Provincetown, MA (The Hollywood Times) 10/12/26 – What a fun-filled day in Provincetown! My sister Darlene and I had the pleasure of running into the wonderfully funny Poppy Champlin not once, but twice, before catching her hilarious show, Puts the FUH in FUNNY, Monday evening at the Red Room on Commercial Street.
What made this particular day even more special was reconnecting with my longtime friend Poppy Champlin. We first met more than 10 years ago at The Dinah in Palm Springs, and we’ve been laughing together ever since!
Earlier in the day, I had the opportunity to catch up with Poppy for a little impromptu interview outside the Red Room on Commercial Street. As you can see from the photos, we were both cracking each other up! At one point, Poppy was doubled over laughing, and I wasn’t far behind. That’s the thing about Poppy; she doesn’t have to be onstage to be absolutely hilarious.
It was such a treat to reconnect, share some laughs, and reminisce about our years of knowing each other. We ran into her again later at the Women’s Week opening party at Pilgrim House, before heading to the Red Room to enjoy her evening performance.
And after all these years, I can tell you that Poppy’s infectious humor, outrageous personality, and incredible comedic timing are just as entertaining offstage as they are onstage!
By the time we arrived at the Red Room for her 8:30 PM performance, we were more than ready for some laughter, and Poppy certainly delivered!
Performing to a somewhat full house of enthusiastic fans, Champlin brought her signature fearless comedy, quick wit, outrageous observations, and unmistakable personality to the stage. Her ability to turn just about anything into a punchline is remarkable, but what really had us laughing was her singing voice and the hilarious way she incorporates music into her comedy.
And yes, Poppy can actually sing! It’s what she does with that voice that makes it so darn funny.

A graduate of the University of Rhode Island with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre, Champlin continued her comedic training at Chicago’s famed Second City Training Center before heading to Los Angeles. Her career has included appearances on Showtime, HBO, LOGO, Comedy Central, Comics Unleashed, The Joan Rivers Show, and Oprah.
She has also opened for comedy greats including Ray Romano, Rosie O’Donnell, Denis Leary, and Bill Maher.
And the accolades keep coming! Poppy is an inductee into the Rhode Island Comedy Hall of Fame and the 2024 National Professional Winner of Ladies of Laughter.
For those of us familiar with her performances on Olivia cruises and within the LGBTQ+ entertainment community, seeing Poppy in Provincetown feels especially fitting. She understands her audience, knows how to work a room, and has absolutely no problem pushing the comedic envelope.

Women’s Week is about community, friendship, celebrating women, and making memories, and sometimes the very best way to do all of that is to sit together and laugh until your cheeks hurt.
Poppy Champlin certainly gave us plenty of reasons to do just that!
There’s still time to catch Poppy during Women’s Week!
Puts the FUH in FUNNY continues at the Red Room, 258 Commercial Street, Provincetown, through Saturday, October 17, 2026. Most remaining performances begin at 8:30 PM, with a special 4 PM show on Thursday, October 15.
