Los Angeles, CA (The Hollywood Times) 8/27/25 – On Friday, August 22, 2025, Lucha VaVOOM delivered one of its wildest shows yet with “The Good, the Bad and the Fabulous,” marking the final performance at The Mayan before the legendary venue closes its doors this September after 35 years. It was a sold-out show, packed to the rafters with fans eager to witness this historic send-off. The night opened with wrestlers arriving in style, pulling up in gleaming vintage cars that set the tone for the spectacle to come. Hosts Drew Carey and Tom Kenny (the unmistakable voice of SpongeBob SquarePants) kept the energy high, blending comedy and charisma as the mayhem unfolded.

Inside the ring, the action was nonstop. High-flying luchadores launched from the ropes, burlesque stars brought glamour and heat, and referees often ended up flying into the crowd right alongside the wrestlers. The mix of chaos, comedy, and cabaret was classic VaVOOM, amplified by the knowledge that this was The Mayan’s swan song. While the night was a farewell to a beloved venue, it was also a reminder that Lucha VaVOOM is far from finished.
This final Mayan performance wasn’t just a show. It was a blowout celebration of culture, comedy, lucha libre, and burlesque, the perfect farewell to a venue that has shaped Los Angeles nightlife for decades. The 4-hour lineup featured many electrifying performances including the Adelaide Pilar Band, who opened the show, sultry burlesque artistry from Ruby Champagne and Skylar, and wild in-ring personas like Fernandez Cholo and Rocky Roulex. The energy never let up, blending high-octane wrestling, dazzling burlesque, and comedic interludes that had the crowd on its feet from start to finish. It was a fitting send-off for The Mayan’s historic run.

While it was bittersweet to say goodbye to The Mayan, fans can rejoice, Lucha VaVOOM will continue its legacy at the Fox Theater in Pomona, keeping the tradition alive with even bigger spectacles to come.
