Palm Springs, CA (The Hollywood Times) 5/29/26 – The L-Fund, a longtime Coachella Valley nonprofit dedicated to providing financial assistance and support to LGBTQ+ women, is entering a new phase of its mission through a partnership with The LGBTQ Community Center of the Desert.
Beginning July 1, 2026, The L-Fund will officially operate as a program of The Center, marking an important step in strengthening services and expanding resources available to the local LGBTQ+ community.
During the initial transition period, The L-Fund’s programs and services will continue operating as they have in the past under the new name, “The L-Fund at The Center.” A newly created leadership position, Director of The L-Fund at The Center, will oversee operations and help guide the integration process. Over time, the organization will become fully incorporated into The Center’s broader programming structure.
The transition is designed to preserve the legacy and impact of The L-Fund while providing additional organizational support and sustainability through The Center’s established infrastructure.
Supporters can be assured that donations previously designated for specific L-Fund programs, events, or initiatives will continue to be used for their intended purposes. Existing donor restrictions will remain in place following the transfer, ensuring that contributions continue to support the causes donors originally selected.
Future contributions to The L-Fund at The Center will be processed through The Center while maintaining support for the fund’s mission and programs.
Leadership from both organizations expressed appreciation for the community’s continued generosity and commitment throughout this transition.
Questions regarding the organizational changes may be directed to Mike Thompson, Chief Executive Officer of The Center. Beginning July 1, inquiries related specifically to The L-Fund at The Center may also be directed to Dr. Karyl Ketchum, who will serve as the program’s inaugural director under the new structure.

The move represents a significant milestone for both organizations and reflects a shared commitment to ensuring that critical services, financial assistance, and community support for LGBTQ+ women remain strong and sustainable for years to come.
