A Conversation with Karen Waldrup, Who Turns the Tables With New Single “All That Mess”

0

Premiered By Whiskey Riff

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Known for her powerful vocals, viral videos, and genuine connection with fans, Karen Waldrup is back with her new single, “All That Mess,” available today and premiered by Whiskey Riff. Co-written by Waldrup and fellow songwriter Darcie Morin, the song takes on the all-too-familiar habit of playing it safe just to keep from “rufflin’ feathers.” With honest lyrics and a relatable sound, Waldrup encourages listeners to stop worrying about pleasing everyone else and start standing up for their own happiness, goals, and success. “All That Mess” is a reminder that keeping the peace isn’t always worth holding yourself back, and sometimes you have to be willing to take a chance, speak your mind, walk away from toxic and dishonest situations, and do what’s right for you.

The Hollywood Times had the opportunity to speak with Karen earlier this morning. “All That Mess” is a song that will resonate with people worldwide. Karen discussed her song “All That Mess,” explaining that it’s about choosing authenticity over dealing with difficult situations, whether in relationships, work, or personal life. She emphasized the powerful lyric “life’s too short to worry about what they say, to hide your truth and dim your flame,” highlighting the importance of being real rather than misunderstood.

Karen said she co-wrote the with novelist Darcy Morin during a difficult time in her life when she was going through divorce and experiencing financial exploitation. She described October 30th as an important date marking one year since filing for divorce, which she considers her “Independence Day” for regaining her wellness and life. Karen mentioned that she and her team have been touring the song throughout the year as part of their “No Way Back” record, and plans to continue touring in 2027 while also preparing new songs for the upcoming year.

Karen discussed her hobbies and leisure activities, including walking on the lake with her dog, shooting pool, dancing, and attending live music performances. She explained that shooting pool provides her with an escape from her constant focus on results-driven activities. Karen also mentioned her plans for Halloween and Thanksgiving, including a trip to Texas to see her sister and visiting family in South Carolina for Christmas.

Karen discussed her website where boxes are available for pre-order in the shop section, and mentioned an upcoming Cyber Live event on November 30th at 7pm where she will sign and hang out with fans. The conversation also included a discussion about holiday ornaments, where Karen shared her evolving perspective on collecting them. The interview concluded with plans to share the content on the Hollywood Times YouTube channel and social media.

“Life is too short to have people around you that don’t tell the truth, make life harder than it needs to be, and add weight and chaos to your life. ‘All That Mess’ is the ultimate power anthem for anyone who’s simply had enough.”  – Karen Waldrup

“All That Mess” Lyrics
I used to shrink to fit their ideas
Say “yes, ma’am” and fold like a tortilla
Played it nice, played it small
Just to keep from rufflin’ feathers at all
But I lost pieces tryin’ to please
And that kind of livin’ ain’t livin’ for me

You learn real quick when you get burned
Some things just ain’t worth the hurt

Life’s too short to worry ‘bout what they say
To hide your truth and dim your flame
Ain’t got time for playin’ roles
For countin’ likes or chasin’ gold
You can’t win when you lose yourself
Trying to be somebody else
Well I’m done with tryin’ to impress
Life’s too short for all that mess

Following her recent feature in Fox News Digital, Waldrup continues to release new music as she puts the finishing touches on her upcoming album. Her songwriting draws from real-life experiences, faith, and the emotions that come with navigating life’s ups and downs, resulting in positive feel-good songs that connect with listeners on a personal level. Among them is the heartfelt “Keeping The Faith,” accompanied by a powerful music video inspired by Waldrup’s own journey of leaning on her faith through major life changes, including a difficult divorce.
