Alexis Bittar is a luxury Brooklyn-based jewelry brand that is a mix of both art and fashion. The brand is known for its hand-carved, hand-painted lucite (acrylic resin). Key collections include the “Liquid Lucite” bangle bracelets, “Solanales” crystal-studded designs, and “Brut” metalwork pieces.

The brand has celebrity appeal with celebrities like Alicia Keys and Lizzo wearing their pieces. SZA, Victoria Monet, and Rei Ami are just a few artists who were seen wearing his brand. Alexis Bittar was relaunched in 2021 with the designer at the helm. The brand’s best-selling jewelry is hand-carved and hand-painted in Brooklyn, New York.

Bittar was born in 1968 and raised in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. He was born to a Syrian father and an Irish mother. He began carving his own Lucite collection in 1990, before he was discovered by Dawn Mello, a fashion designer of Bergdorf Goodman. Mello is who offered Bittar his first steps in the world of retail when he began selling in London and Japan.

Bittar also designed Burberry’s first ready-to-wear jewelry collection, putting their signature plain onto Lucite. In 2004, he celebrated the grand opening of his first boutique. Later in the year he was named the “Rising Star of the Year” by the prestigious Accessories Council of Excellence (ACE).

In 2008, Bittar’s designs appeared on the September cover of French Vogue styled by fashion editor Carine Roitfeld. Then in 2009, for New York Fashion Week, Bittar collaborated with Michael Kors for his Spring 2010 ready-to-wear collections.

Later in 2010, Bittar was awarded the CFDA’s ‘Accessory Designer of the Year’ award. He then entered into a partnership with the private equity company TSG Consumer Partners. Bittar left his brand to focus on raising his children, then in 2020 came back after a five year absence. He acquired the brand after Brooks Brothers filed for bankruptcy. In 2021, Bittar relaunched his brand with four boutiques in New York City and one in San Francisco. Bittar then received his fourth Accessories Council of Excellence, ACE Award and first Museum of Art & Design Award.
