Palm Springs, CA (The Hollywood Times) 12/4/25 – Even though we were unable to attend in person, the spirit and sparkle of one of Palm Springs’ most cherished holiday traditions radiated all the way from the historic Uptown Design District. The Annual Holiday Wreath Auction returned to Eight4Nine Restaurant & Lounge on Wednesday night, completely sold out, and once again delivered an evening of generosity, artistry, and community love.

Hosted inside the iconic venue helmed by our friend, restaurateur Willie Rhine, Eight4Nine transformed into a dazzling winter showcase, with more than 20 custom-designed wreaths adorning the space. Each wreath, donated by talented community members, artists, and local businesses, was auctioned off live, creating an atmosphere filled with festive excitement and heartfelt giving.

A companion online auction extended the experience, offering even more one-of-a-kind wreaths to bidders near and far.

This beloved event carries forward the philanthropic legacy of the late Dick Haskamp, the much-loved Streetbar owner whose commitment to community support began the very first wreath auction three decades ago. His imprint on Palm Springs remains strong, reflected in the continued success of this holiday benefit, one that still uplifts the causes he cared for deeply.

Proceeds from the evening support:
• The LGBTQ Community Center of the Desert — A vital resource that touches lives across the Coachella Valley, from behavioral health services to food assistance to cultural programs that reduce isolation and foster community.
• Palm Springs Animal Shelter — The region’s only public, open-admissions, no-kill shelter, providing compassionate care, rehabilitation, and adoption services for animals since 1961.

Representatives from both organizations engaged guests with stories of impact, gratitude, and the profound difference this annual fundraiser continues to make.

Guests enjoyed the signature hospitality Eight4Nine is known for, elegant service, eye-catching décor, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere that perfectly complemented the evening’s mission. Under Willie Rhine’s leadership, the venue once again proved why it remains a favorite gathering place for philanthropy, celebration, and community connection in Palm Springs.

Even from afar, we applaud the organizers, donors, artists, and enthusiastic bidders who helped make this year’s Holiday Wreath Auction another resounding success. The joy it spreads each December is a reminder that when this community comes together, beautiful things bloom, even in the shape of a wreath.
