Palm Springs, CA (The Hollywood Times) 6/6/25 – Pet lovers, music fans, and adoption advocates alike have reason to celebrate. Spot Pet Insurance, led by CEO Trey Ferro, is teaming up with global pop icon Kesha for a one-of-a-kind event in Los Angeles on June 10th—a listening party for Kesha’s new album and the kickoff of her highly anticipated Tits Out Tour. But this isn’t just another celebrity activation. It’s taking place at Wags and Walks Animal Shelter near Brentwood, and it’s all about giving back—to pets, to adopters, and to the power of community.
“I’m actually in Miami right now,” Ferro told me during our recent interview via Zoom, “but I’ll be in Los Angeles soon for this event. We’re thrilled to be hosting Kesha. She’s been an animal lover all her life, and she really aligns with our mission.”
That mission, Ferro says, is more than just providing insurance policies. Spot’s broader initiative, called Spot Cares, helps fund emergency procedures for uninsured cats and dogs whose lives hang in the balance.
“We’ll sometimes cover the remainder of GoFundMe campaigns,” Ferro explained. “We say, ‘We’ve got you this time, and we hope you’ll have pet insurance next time.’ That’s actually how we connected with Kesha—she saw one of our videos and reached out. She wanted to do more than just donate. She wanted to help amplify the message of responsible pet ownership.”
The June 10th event promises music, mingling, and of course—adoptions. With support from Kesha and Wags and Walks, Spot hopes to shine a light on both the joy and responsibility that come with pet ownership.
When asked about common misconceptions around pet insurance, Ferro didn’t miss a beat. “A lot of people confuse it with life insurance. But it’s really health insurance—designed to help with everything from basic checkups to emergency surgeries. Our plans start at just $15 a month, and they can save pet parents thousands.”
That wasn’t just sales speak. Ferro shared a personal story about his own rescue dog, Mezi, who needed a $5,000 surgery after swallowing a plastic floor mat. “Thanks to insurance, I got back over $4,000. That’s peace of mind you can’t put a price on.”
While some might see pet insurance as a niche or luxury product, Ferro views it as essential—especially when only 5% of American pet owners currently have coverage. “We want to change that. Pets with insurance live 30–40% longer because they get more regular vet care. It’s about education and access.”

Spot Pet Insurance also sets itself apart with its branding. “We call ourselves the ‘love brand,’” Ferro said, smiling as he gestured toward the heart-shaped logo behind him. “If you love your pet, you get Spot.”
