Los Angeles, CA (The Hollywood Times) 9/4/25 – With deep sorrow, the fashion world bids farewell to Giorgio Armani, who passed away peacefully on September 4, 2025, at his home in Milan at the age of 91.
Born in Piacenza in 1934, Armani initially pursued medical studies at the University of Milan before discovering his passion for fashion. His early career included roles at La Rinascente and Cerruti, where he honed an understated yet sophisticated design sensibility.
In 1975, alongside his close collaborator Sergio Galeotti, Armani launched his eponymous label in Milan. It was here that he revolutionized modern style by introducing unstructured blazers and soft tailoring that lent elegance without rigidity, transforming business attire and redefining power dressing for both men and women. His minimalist aesthetic earned him the moniker “King of the Blazer” and reshaped red‑carpet fashion through both Hollywood and global influence wd businessman. He built a multibillion-dollar fashion empire, including Giorgio Armani, Emporio Armani, Armani Jeans, and Armani Privé, while maintaining sole ownership and absolute creative control. His annual revenues approached €2.3 billion (roughly $2.7 billion), and his personal net worth was estimated at around $12.1 billion.
Armani worked with unparalleled commitment right until his final days. He had recently missed Milan Men’s Fashion Week in June, the first time he ever skipped one of his shows, owing to health issues.
Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni lauded him as “an icon, a tireless worker, a symbol of the best of Italy”. Celebrities like Julia Roberts, Leonardo DiCaprio, Victoria Beckham, and Donatella Versace remembered him fondly as both a visionary and a dear friend.
Armani’s funeral arrangements include a public viewing in Milan at Armani/Teatro on September 6 and 7, followed by a private ceremony in accordance with his wishes.
Giorgio Armani leaves behind a legacy of timeless elegance and innovation. He liberated tailoring with trademark fluidity and redefined modern luxury through a minimalist lens. Beyond garments, his influence expanded into hospitality, home décor, and lifestyle, all while remaining tethered to Milan, an enduring symbol of Italian creativity and craftsmanship
