Los Angeles, CA (The Hollywood Times) 6/4/25 – Celebrity cosmetic chemist Ron Robinson never thought he would be an integral part of the beauty business.
“In fact, I am often referred to as the accidental cosmetic chemist!” he told Hollywood Times. “I studied chemistry and biology in college and decided to pursue a career in medicine.”
But after a year of med school, Robinson dropped out. “I didn’t know what my future was going to be. I moved back in with my parents, and they pressured me to find out what I wanted to do with my life.”
After the completion of his education, Robinson started his career as a researcher at Clinique, which is part of Estée Lauder. “Clinique hired me on the spot and from there began my love of the beauty industry and developing great products that delight consumers.”
Later, he joined Avon and worked there until 2008. His research work included the development of Clinique’s skincare line. During his career, he also worked for Revlon, Lancome and La Mer.
“I have been blessed by getting to work for some of the world’s biggest beauty brands where I led the development of many bestselling skincare and makeup products,” he enthused. “I love creating innovative products that delight consumers.”
Robinson became the cosmetic chemist-in-residence of Rhode, a beauty brand started by Hailey Bieber and has been part of the Skincare Advisory Board as one of their experts.
About Bieber he said: “Hailey is a visionary. She loves products. Loves to incorporate novel ingredients and has an exceptional taste in product aesthetics.”
Robinson thinks Rhode’s success is due to a combination of “Hailey” vision. “Exceptional taste in product aesthetics and her including experts like me to help back up the products with real science.”
As a cosmetic chemist for more than 30 years, Robinson continues to build his own science-backed skincare brand, BeautyStat. The company is quickly gaining traction for its high-performance actives and breakthrough textures, most recently with the launch of the C Lip Serum SPF 30, a patented, first-of-its-kind mineral SPF lip treatment that combines sun protection with vitamin C in a creamy formula.
Robinson will continue to be a beauty disruptor, combining science and creating a community of loyal consumers.
