Palm Beach, Florida (The Hollywood Times) 07/08/2026

I have often been described by peers in the entertainment industry as too pushy or a little too aggressive. Some have advised me to let things go when opportunities do not work out, suggesting that I might achieve better results in my career if I stopped pressing for answers.  I believe in learning from my mistakes, adjusting my game plan, and continuing to push forward with purpose.

But that is not who Josie is. I believe in learning from my mistakes, adjusting my game plan, and continuing to move forward.  Unfortunately, television networks and film studios often say no without offering any explanation. When you ask what went wrong or try to understand where things went sideways, they can become frustrated rather than willing to provide clarity.

Unfortunately, television networks and film studios often say no without offering any explanation. When I ask what went wrong or try to understand where things went sideways, they can become annoyed rather than willing to provide clarity.

One of the biggest disappointments of my acting career came when I was being considered for a series regular role on the HBO series Luck. When the opportunity did not move forward, I was devastated and fell into a deep depression.  Recently, my friend Cindy Guyer, a veteran actress and model, called to tell me that she was going through a very difficult time. Her reality show, Snowbirds, which was being developed for Bravo TV, had not been greenlit.  I told her that I could only imagine what she was feeling because something similar had happened to me years ago. When I asked what had gone wrong, she explained that the issue involved filming permits in Palm Beach, Florida.

That conversation made me want to understand what had happened. I decided to visit Cindy in West Palm Beach, Florida, and see whether Only Josie Knows could do some investigative journalism and get to the bottom of it.

Helping a Friend Find Answers

To be honest, the explanation I had heard sounded like a lot of vague industry talk. What I did know was that a friend needed help, and I wanted to understand what had really happened.

I am not sure whether it was a fait accompli, but the timing felt significant. That same week, while I was in South Florida for the Fourth of July holiday, I had already planned to interview Michelle Hillery, Film Commissioner for Palm Beach County, Florida.

I had met Michelle during my most recent trip to the Cannes Film Festival, and the interview seemed like the perfect opportunity to ask deeper questions.  As Only Josie Knows, I knew there was more to discover—and what I found may surprise you. I decided to bring Cindy Guyer with me to the interview with the Film Commissioner of Palm Beach County so we could seek clarity together.

Meet Cindy Guyer

Discovered by Wilhelmina International Inc. (Wilhelmina Models) at the age of 14, Guyer went on to become the most prolific model to be featured on romance novels.

She has appeared on hundreds of covers, which earned her the nickname “Miss Romance”. The commercial print model and celebrity Playmate was featured in a tribute pictorial in Playboy  magazine for her contribution to this popular genre of fiction literature and millions of book sold worldwide.

Since opening Guyer’s, an eatery and bar named after her father on Manhattan‘s Upper Westside, Guyer has also made occasional television appearances on reality programs, including The Real Housewives of New York City and the Millionaire Matchmaker.

Guyer was cast in the game-show/reality television series Mr. Romance, which was her debut role in non-scripted programming.

Cindy Guyer is currently an ambassador for Gleembeauty.com. Cindy currently works as a social media influencer and it’s one of biggest stars in Palm Beach County. She is the real Miss West Palm Beach!

CINDY GUYER

Meet Michelle Hillery and watch her interview with the Hollywood Times.

As Michelle Hillery told the Hollywood Times in our interview, filing permits are complimentary in the state of Florida (Palm Beach County). In addition, Florida has many incentive programs for Productions to take place and it usually takes 3 business days to get a filming Permit. Michelle said that Streamers (You tubers, Netflix etc.) also need to get a filming permit.

Michelle Hillery

So being “Only Josie Knows” the investigative reporter, and a good friend, I had to ask Michelle why did Cindy’s reality show “SNOWBIRDS” had so many problems with filming permits? Michelle’s answer “Based upon the information Cindy provided me, I could not find any record of them applying for a permit with us.”

Cindy and I almost dropped to the floor. Unfortunately, one will never know why her Reality TV show did not get green light, but we know it had nothing to do with filming permits.

I am “Only Josie Knows” and want to thank Michelle Hillery for her interview with the Hollywood Times and who knows maybe my REALITY TV show will be filing for a permit sooner than later in Palm Beach County.
