Los Angeles, CA (The Hollywood Times) 2/17/23 – This past Wednesday, the cast of Snowfall came together at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures for the show’s sixth and final season premiere. This season Franklin (Damson Idris) is faced with losing it all. His empire, his family, and his life are all on the line. He is working his way back from zero after being wiped out in season five by former CIA officer Teddy McDonald (Carter Hudson) and double-crossed by his Aunt Louie (Angela Lewis) and Uncle Jerome (Amin Joseph). However, Franklin is determined and ego-driven through all his shortcomings, making it impossible for him to walk away from the game. Instead, he’s ready to go to war and take down anybody that stands in his way.

This season goes more in-depth about the true agenda within American history and the War on Drugs centered around control, manipulation, and division amongst urban people, causing a distraction so that the CIA could import and distribute drugs into struggling communities in Los Angeles. Season 6 is truly a reflection of co-creator the late John Singleton, whose vision was to tell a story about what was going on in his neighborhood of South-Central Los Angeles. During the FX Networks Winter TCA press tour, co-creator Dave Andron told the press that Singleton wanted the show to be a backstory for his 1991 award-winning film Boyz n the Hood. In addition, he wanted to show how the world played a part in shaping and changing people’s lives in one neighborhood in relation to American history and geopolitics, which have had lasting effects.

2023 – TCA members, THT and other members of the press asked some cast members if they would miss playing their characters. Damson Idris replied with laughter, “I can’t wait to say goodbye to Frank. No. I’m okay. I’m going to miss this guy. And, you know, I’m good friends with Idris Elba, and people call him Stringer Bell still. So, I know people will call me Franklin for my whole career. So, I’m always going to be reminded of the impact that he’s had. So, yeah, I’m definitely going to miss him.” Angela Lewis added to the conversation, saying, “It’s a mix, you know. I’m happy to say bye, but I will miss her. And even more, I will miss her in relation to the other characters. So, saying goodbye to these guys is like I knew it would be challenging, but, man, on the day, it’s unbelievably sad.”

Snowfall Season 6 premieres in 5 days on Wednesday, February 22nd, with two episodes airing back-to-back at 10:00 p.m. Eastern and Pacific and streams on Hulu the next day.
