Palm Springs, CA (The Hollywood Times) 7/28/26 – Palm Springs City Councilmember and former Mayor Ron deHarte has officially qualified as a candidate for re-election in District 3 after receiving confirmation from the Riverside County Registrar of Voters.
With the required community signatures verified, deHarte’s name will appear on the November ballot. The announcement launches what he describes as an energetic 90-day campaign centered on open communication, neighborhood priorities and continued progress for Palm Springs.

DeHarte was elected to represent District 3 in 2022 and later served as Palm Springs’ 27th mayor. During his time on the City Council, he has built a reputation as a direct and outspoken leader who emphasizes transparency, accountability and responsive constituent service.
A Hispanic small-business owner, father and longtime community advocate, deHarte says his background continues to shape his approach to public service. His priorities include strengthening public safety, improving infrastructure, addressing housing needs, protecting the city’s financial health and ensuring that residents receive dependable service from City Hall.

DeHarte has also remained focused on supporting the city’s tourism economy and locally owned businesses, both of which play a critical role in Palm Springs’ continued success.
His civic involvement began long before his election to the City Council. His years of service with the Palm Springs Human Rights Commission and other community organizations helped establish his commitment to inclusion and equal opportunity. DeHarte says conversations with residents continue to guide the decisions he makes on behalf of District 3 and the city as a whole.
As Palm Springs grows and faces new challenges, deHarte believes experienced and practical leadership will be essential. He is seeking another term to continue investing in neighborhoods, supporting local businesses, maintaining a strong economy and creating opportunities for everyone who calls Palm Springs home.

“I am running for re-election to ensure our neighborhoods stay safe, our economy thrives, and Palm Springs offers opportunity for everyone who calls it home,” deHarte said.
His campaign message remains focused on three central principles: Inclusion, Opportunity and Progress.
