Los Angeles, CA (The Hollywood Times) 1/20/25 – Robert Downs is a distinguished professional photographer renowned for his dynamic portraiture and evocative live event imagery. His portfolio showcases a diverse range of subjects, including iconic musicians such as Rod Stewart, Public Enemy, and the Foo Fighters.
Downs’ passion for photography ignited at the age of thirteen, coinciding with his first publication on the cover of the sports section of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution (AJC). Reflecting on this formative experience, Downs shared, “I begged my father to go to work with him as a kid. So he would take me along with all the assignments… I was completely hooked.” This early achievement set the stage for a prolific career spanning nearly 25 years, during which he has adeptly combined portraiture, live event photography, and editorial work to document the endeavors of his clients.

Specializing in music photography, Downs described the unparalleled energy and connection he feels when working with musicians. Whether backstage or on tour, he views these moments as “hallowed ground,” where he captures not only the artist but also the soul of their craft. “I love working with music. I love working with musicians. I love the entire vibe. There’s no… it’s absolutely positively sure when I’m around these situations that I’m in the right place,” he remarked.
