Los Angeles, CA (The Hollywood Times) 1/20/25 – Newly released this month, Martin Luther King III, his wife and fellow activist Arndrea Waters King plus entrepreneurs and brothers Marc and Craig Kielburger teamed up to author “What Is My Legacy? Realizing a New Dream of Connection, Love and Fulfillment. The book focuses on the premise of living everyday (our legacy) in the present while sharing our talents and passions with the world thus creating fulfillment and connection with others. King was only 10 years old when he lost his father in 1968, and since has managed to carve out a legacy of his own as a global human rights advocate, keynote speaker, and leader in multiple industries including his time as President of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference. King has also been the recipient of numerous honorary degrees for his work. Carrying on the legacy his father and mother both left behind, King along with his co-authors examine human disconnection and its relation to change and breaking cycles of racism, inequality, and crisis. In looking back at Dr. King’s vision and words of wisdom, the book also examines how we as people can help reach that vision of peace, love, forgiveness, and unity.

My father’s dream remains unfulfilled, but it is still very much alive.”

(Martin Luther King III): Excerpt from “What Is My Legacy? Realizing a New Dream of Connection, Love and Fulfillment)

Throughout each chapter, readers will engage in self-reflection as they read and question their ancestral inheritance, trauma, and challenges that inevitably shape us as people. The authors have done an immense job at placing hope in resilience, faith, and in meaningful connection and conversation. Readers will also enjoy the insights from various successful industry professionals who share snippets of their background story while detailing Dr. King’s impact and influence in their lives. Adding to the great depth of “What is My Legacy,”  is also the many personal stories shared by the co-authors and specifically King who shares many fascinating insights regarding his family’s legacy. King admittedly also talks of living in the shadow of his iconic father while honoring the mission and furthering the work left behind by both his parents which has essentially been profound in his life. For anyone striving for purpose, improvement, change, and connection, the book is a highly recommended read.

As we look back on Dr. King’s legacy, let us be reminded of his many words of wisdom which still hold great relevance today.

Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.” (Martin Luther King Jr.)

Happy MLK Day!
