Los Angeles, CA – May 14, 2026 – Last night The Paley Center for Media hosted a special PaleyLive event, Outlander: A Celebration, at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, bringing together the series’ stars and creative team to celebrate its legacy with reflection and behind-the-scenes insight.
The evening featured red carpet arrivals and a special screening of the series pilot ahead of the May 15 finale on STARZ, along with a sneak peek of the final episode. The program concluded with a conversation featuring stars Sam Heughan and Caitríona Balfe, showrunner and executive producer Matthew B. The discussion explored the series’ celebrated run, including its sweeping romance, historical scope, and creative vision.
Asked what she remembered about filming the pilot, Balfe recounted, “It’s all a blur in a way, but also one of the most special times of my life.” She continued, “I remember running on fumes and fear the first year.”
“We made a decision early on to have each other’s backs, and we’ve stuck with that,” Balfe said of her and Heughan’s working relationship. Heughan noted, “You do realize what a special thing we have. By the end, I know what she’s thinking and vice versa. It’s just a pleasure.”
Ultimately, Roberts said the series’ legacy lies in its impact on viewers over the years, adding, “It’s an amazing feeling when somebody comes up to you and says ‘I love Outlander and it changed my life,’ and that’s the most rewarding thing anybody could say.”
