Through four-time married Kim Davis, the disgraced court clerk from Kentucky who opposes marriage for all, the MAGA right has decided to advance another Project 2025 objective: dissolving marriage equality. Despite failing on previous attempts to circumvent the law, Davis has petitioned the Supreme Court to dissolve our marriages guaranteed by the Court just 10 years ago.
In just eight months, we all have seen the hypocrisy and unlawfulness of this administration. The threat to our marriages is a whole other level of discrimination.
But there is one organization built to fight back: the Human Rights Campaign. Over the past 45 years, HRC has been at the forefront of fights like this: from fighting the Reagan and Bush administrations through the early years of the AIDS epidemic; fighting for the passage of the Matthew Shepard & James Byrd, Jr. Hate Crimes Prevention Act in 2009, fighting to repeal ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’ in 2010. And, fighting for marriage equality for all Americans, a fight that started decades before the 2015 Obergefell decision and carried through in 2022 when President Biden signed the Respect for Marriage Act into law.
Fights like these are exactly why this organization was founded. We are ready, we are prepared, and we will win this fight again.
HRC is organizing our 3.6 million members for what’s to come ahead. You may have seen news about the American Dreams Tour and the One Million Voices for Equality campaign. These campaigns are designed to engage Equality Voters through high-level community organizing in communities across this country; not only for any marriage fight ahead, but also for the 2026 midterm elections. While we await the Supreme Court’s decision on whether they take this case, we need YOU to be ready for the fight ahead.
The road to full LGBTQ+ equality is not easy. It will not be easy for the months and years ahead. HRC will meet the challenges every step of the way. I hope you will meet the challenge with HRC and renew your support of this work here.
