West Hollywood, CA (The Hollywood Times) 10/31/25 – On Thursday night, The Abbey – one of LA’s most iconic LGBTQ+ landmarks, was filled with laughter, pride, and purpose as Lambda Legal hosted an inspiring evening celebrating community and comedy. The event offered a joyful preview of the organization’s inaugural comedy benefit, set to debut next year, while reinforcing the power of humor in the face of adversity.
Guests mingled over food and cocktails generously provided by MISTR, setting a festive tone for the night. The event drew an energetic mix of advocates, supporters, and local luminaries, all united in their support of Lambda Legal’s ongoing mission to protect and advance the civil rights of LGBTQ+ people and everyone living with HIV.
“At a time when our community’s rights are under attack across the nation, our laughter, and our unity, are acts of strength,” said Kevin Jennings, CEO of Lambda Legal.
Jennings delivered an impassioned address that blended humor and heart, reflecting on the organization’s tireless work amid today’s mounting legal and political challenges. His words set the tone for an evening where advocacy met artistry, and where laughter became a statement of resilience.
“Justice and joy are not opposites, they are partners in the same fight,” echoed one guest, capturing the night’s spirit perfectly.
The evening’s comedy lineup offered a sneak peek of what’s to come at next year’s full-scale comedy fundraiser, featuring some of Los Angeles’ brightest stand-up talent who had the crowd roaring. Between the sets, guests were encouraged to connect, share stories, and reaffirm their commitment to equality.
As the night wound down, one sentiment echoed throughout The Abbey: Lambda Legal continues to lead the charge in the courts, and in the community – with courage, compassion, and, yes, a little laughter.
