Los Angeles, CA (The Hollywood Times) 12/13/25 – Winter is the most wonderful time of the year and celebrating the season is the show “The Wonderful Winter of Oz.” In the style of traditional British pantomime, meshed with a jolly holiday version of a modern American fairy tale, Christmas Eve sees Dorothy get swept away by a “freak” Kansas blizzard.  She lands in a whacky world of munchkins and witches. The plot thickens…

With fitting music by Lady Gaga to Earth, Wind and Fire, and starring John O’Hurley, “The Wonderful Winter of Oz” is an experience for all ages at this festive time of the year.

“I do this every December,” said O’Hurley, “It’s my 6th year of doing the Panto because I enjoy it so much. It’s all about the kids and the holidays.”

“The Wonderful Winter of Oz” is an interactive show according to O’Hurley. “The kids have an opportunity to interact with the show and enjoy the plot.”

Directed by Becky Lythgoe, who said the production is for all ages and explained the classic tale of “The Wizard of Oz” is all about belonging. “My hope is that our production brings audiences together for a multigenerational live theatre experience. Complete with singing, dancing in the aisles and yes, even snow.”

John O’Hurley, joined by Tamyra Gray and Modern Family star Aubrey Anderson-Emmons perform in “The Wonderful Winter of Oz.” It promises to be a festive family experience to enjoy together during this holiday season.

“The Wonderful Winter of Oz” plays at the Scherr Forum Theatre, Bank of America Performing Arts Center, Thousand Oaks, from December 12 to December 28.
