Eugene, Oregon (The Hollywood Times) 1/27/26 – Life-long 49ers fan, Tom Brady, narrates ‘Rise of the 49ers’ in AMC’s new sport docuseries. Brady, a San Mateo, California native, also serves as an executive producer on the show. The documentary is a four-episode series with each episode featuring on-camera contributions from Brady.

‘Rise of the 49ers’ is about how the team went from being “irrelevant” to winning multiple Superbowl’s in the ‘80s and early ‘90s. The series will feature interviews with Pro Football Hall of Fame inductees and club icons like Joe Montana, Jerry Rice, Ronnie Lott, Steve Young and Eddie DeBartolo Jr., among others. According to AMC’s press release, the series covers the time when the San Francisco 49ers went from “Underdogs into Pro Football’s Most Glamorous Franchise”.

Brady talks about his perspective as a childhood fan who grew up admiring the 49ers, to then being frustrated about being overlooked in the draft by his hometown team. He specifically narrates his love for Joe Montana and Jerry Rice, and how their success shaped his own football career.

Listen to an insider perspective as Brady talks about being a fan in his youth in San Mateo and connecting with the iconic players and moments of the 80s and 90s for the 49ers. The docuseries uses extensive NFL Films archives and shows behind-the-scenes looks at the team during their peak run. ‘Rise of the 49ers’ highlights how one of the best quarterbacks in football was inspired by the San Francisco 49ers.

“The model for winning is a star quarterback,” Brady says in the trailer.

Brady not only narrates but also executive produces the series through his own production company, Religion of Sports.

‘Rise of the 49ers’ premiers as a two-night event with the first two episodes premiering on Sunday, February 1st at 9pm ET/PT., followed by the remaining two episodes on Monday, February 2nd at 9pm ET/PT on AMC and AMC+.
