Horror Powerhouse ALTER to Premiere Swym Good Films’ The Girl in the Street on April 13th

Chicago, April 9, 2026 –  Chicago-based Swym Good Films will debut its award-winning horror short, The Girl in the Street, on April 13 via ALTER, the global home of horror and leading YouTube destination for curated independent genre films. Following a very successful run on the festival circuit, where the film garnered strong acclaim, The Girl in the Street now arrives on ALTER, which reaches nearly 3.8 million subscribers and extends across platforms including Samsung TV+, Tubi, Plex, The CW, DIRECTV, LG Channels, and Sling FreeStream.

Directed by acclaimed Black filmmaking duo Chris & Miles (Chris Paicely and Miles August) and written by Paicely, the SAG-AFTRA production stars Shawn Roundtree Jr. (Emperor of Ocean Park), Whitney Blair Masters, D’Andra Laneé, and Chris Anthony, with a special cameo from horror icon Heather Langenkamp (A Nightmare on Elm Street).

“Premiering on ALTER is incredibly meaningful for us,” says Paicely. “They’ve built a global platform for distinctive, original horror, and we’re excited to bring the film to that audience as we wind down our festival run.”

“Partnering with ALTER is incredibly exciting because it gives the film a global stage with an audience that really understands and appreciates bold, visual horror storytelling,” adds August.

The Girl in the Street follows Malachi (Roundtree Jr.), who accepts a life-changing job opportunity that forces him to leave behind his dying younger sister (Laneé) and relocate to a remote town. Upon arrival, a disturbing encounter with a moving truck driver (Anthony) unsettles him. As he settles into his new home, a bloodied, masked woman appears on the dirt road outside, screaming. Faced with a chilling moral dilemma—help the woman or remain safely inside—Malachi is pushed to confront the limits of his own humanity. The film interrogates whether being “good” is enough when survival is at stake, while exposing the unsettling undercurrents of suburban morality and the cult-like loyalty hidden beneath small-town charm.

The film showcases a standout creative team, including cinematographer Lana Mattice, with post-production support from industry leaders Fotokem (Disney, Strange Darling) and Esho Sound (Anora), and an original score by Pablo Fuu (When Evil Lurks). The project has also earned recognition on the festival circuit.

Chris & Miles continue to build momentum following their award-winning sci-fi short ALUS (2022) and psychological horror BOUND (2023). Their latest project, SILK, is currently on the festival circuit—a surreal, stylized work blending infomercial aesthetics with psychological horror, further cementing their reputation for boundary-pushing storytelling.

Chris Paicely, writer, co-director, and producer, brings a background spanning journalism, marketing, and filmmaking. A Northwestern University graduate, he previously held leadership roles at the Surge Institute and founded StoryPaced, a Black-owned production company focused on authentic storytelling.
