Palm Springs, CA (The Hollywood Times) 2/22/26 – The 32nd Annual Steve Chase Humanitarian Awards unfolded as an unforgettable night of purpose, performance, and philanthropy at the Palm Springs Convention Center on February 21, 2026. As a media sponsor, The Hollywood Times was honored to attend among distinguished benefactors, including the celebrated Trina Turk sponsors, and witness a gala that blended community spirit with Motown magic.

Adding to an already impactful evening, The Temptations, the iconic Motown vocal group and Rock & Roll Hall of Famers, delivered a headline performance that elevated the gala’s energy and delighted guests. Their soulful set, filled with timeless hits like “My Girl” and “Just My Imagination”, provided both entertainment and inspiration, forging a memorable soundtrack to an event dedicated to expanding compassionate care.

A highlight of the evening was the presentation of the Community Service Award to former Palm Springs Mayor Lisa Middleton, honoring her decades of civic leadership and dedication to inclusive community development. Middleton’s recognition reflects her deep commitment to expanding equitable opportunities across the Coachella Valley and her longstanding public service, including her historic role as one of California’s trailblazing openly transgender elected officials.

Local television coverage from NBC Palm Springs previewed Middleton’s honor, featuring interviews in which she spoke about leadership, service, and community values, underscoring how her award resonates both locally and beyond.

While official totals from the evening’s fundraising activities are still being tallied, organizers emphasized that every ticket, paddle bid, and sponsorship dollar fuels DAP Health’s mission to provide accessible, judgment-free care to thousands of patients across Southern California. The event draws support for critical services such as HIV specialty care, behavioral health, sexual wellness services, and primary care through fixed clinics and mobile units.

This year’s gala continued a longstanding tradition of bringing the community together, from healthcare advocates to business leaders and philanthropists, in support of an organization that began amid the AIDS crisis and has become a cornerstone of holistic, inclusive healthcare in the region.

Multiple local outlets, including NBC Palm Springs and community news sources like Gay Desert Guide, highlighted the gala’s significance, from Middleton’s interview segments to coverage of broader community engagement surrounding the event.

As the sounds of Motown faded and guests departed the ballroom, the impact of The Chase remained clear: when community, compassion, and culture converge, the results extend far beyond a single evening. DAP Health’s continued ability to unite purpose and performance ensures that the organization’s lifesaving work is not only sustained but celebrated.
