Los Angeles, CA (The Hollywood Times) 11/2/25 – Few musicals tell the story of crime meshed with comedy as effectively as “Chicago.” The electric show, set in the Windy city during the roaring ‘20s shows how certain women exploit show business, that’s jazz and the media to their advantage with varying results.

The touring production from American Theatre Guild Hits Southern California, specifically Thousand Oaks, at the Fred Kavli Theatre, opening November 7.
The role of veteran vaudeville performer Velma Kelly in this exciting production is California native Claire Marshall.
Speaking from Seattle, where “Chicago” opened this tour’s run, Claire noted “I had the opportunity to audition online for “Chicago” while I was on tour with another show, “The Cher Show” last year, and jumped at it.” The O.C. performer said that show was “super fun” but was thrilled to be cast in “Chicago.” After New York City rehearsals, she hit the road with the show.
“Chicago” is now the longest running American musical on Broadway.

Interestingly, Claire auditioned for Broadway’s production as “Roxie.”
“Chicago” is unique in that satire is used with psychology and the sinister to make a powerful impact. If you saw the movie version and loved it, wait ‘til you see this sensational production! There’s nothing like theatre and the smell of the greasepaint and roar of the crowd.
On stage, this show has taken the world by storm. Catch the energy and originality that is “Chicago” while it’s on tour all over the country until mid 2026. You’ll be wowed.
