After graduating with honors from Brown University, John Lavitt lived on the Greek island of Patmos, studying with the late American poet Robert Lax. As a journalist, John published over 550 articles for The Fix about addiction and recovery from 2015-2022. As a Hollywood Times reviewer, John has been awarded three National Arts & Entertainment Awards from the Los Angeles Press Club: Third Place for "Theatre/Performing Arts Feature - Online" in 2024, Second Place for "Music Critic - Any Platform" in 2023, and Third Place for "Theatre/Performing Arts Feature - Online" in 2021.
