With the LA Phil conducted by an enthusiastic Thomas Wilkins, Josh Groban appeared at the Hollywood Bowl before a delighted crowd, clearly happy to be in his kind presence. After a couple of intermezzos from operas by Giacomo Puccini and the classic Overture to Candide by Leonard Bernstein in the first half, Groban stepped onto the stage in the second half with a smile and a very positive attitude. He was ready to do his thing.

Starting the show with a classic interpretation of “Pure Imagination” from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, Josh Groban transported his audience far away from the toxicity of today’s headlines. Indeed, his voice is like a magic carpet carrying our senses and hearts to a world of innocence and wonder. Accompanied by Thomas Wilkins, the LA Phil, and his own talented band, the LA native began a magical journey through songs from his multi-faceted career.

As a Tony®, EMMY®, and five-time GRAMMY® Award-nominated singer and philanthropist, Josh Groban is known for his generosity and kindness. Openly sharing his struggles with depression and anxiety, he offers hope to others facing similar challenges, demonstrating that redemption is possible. Furthermore, he continues to impress audiences as a versatile singer who has sold over 35 million albums worldwide.

A clear example of Josh Groban’s generosity is when he invited his friend, American violinist Lucia Micarelli, to perform a duet with him on one of the world’s biggest stages. Known for her collaborations with Groban, she displayed confidence and virtuosity through her exceptional playing. By sharing the spotlight, Josh Groban helps other artists find their path to recognition.

To conclude an uplifting show, Josh Groban focused on classics of healing and renewal. Starting with a piano rendition of “Bridge Over Troubled Waters,” the classic from Simon & Garfunkel, Groban reminded the Los Angeles crowd that we can get through tough times by coming together and helping one another. In a moment of pure romantic dreaming, he finished with “Somewhere Over The Rainbow.” The classic song from The Wizard of Oz was a reminder that hope is just a dream and a song away.
