Reading, PA (The Hollywood Times) 10/12/26 – Sometimes the most inspiring stories come from individuals who refuse to follow conventional paths. A Lovely Uncontrollable Thing, an 11-minute documentary directed by Ashley Seering, introduces audiences to Victoria Moore, a remarkable artist and metalsmith whose passion for creating with fire and steel reflects a life built on determination, independence, and personal fulfillment.
Working from her studio surrounded by nature in Pennsylvania, Moore transforms Damascus steel into beautiful, handcrafted jewelry and functional tools. Her artistry combines strength and delicacy, demonstrating that creativity can flourish in even the most unexpected places.
What makes this documentary particularly compelling is its message about defining success on your own terms. Moore’s story challenges traditional expectations, particularly for women working in historically male-dominated trades. Her journey reminds us that happiness isn’t necessarily about following someone else’s definition of success, but discovering what brings meaning to our own lives.
Seering, an accomplished filmmaker and assistant professor at San José State University, brings attention to an extraordinary woman whose creativity deserves recognition. The film has also received an Award of Excellence in the 2026 Broadcast Education Association Faculty Festival.

A Lovely Uncontrollable Thing will screen at the 2026 ReadingFilmFEST on Saturday, November 7, at 12:30 PM, at the GoggleWorks Center for the Arts, as part of the festival’s Celebrating Women’s Voices short-film program.
