New York, NY (The Hollywood Times) 05/24/2022- As the summer approaches, now is the time to start booking your vacation get aways and your family day trips.
If you are planning to take a trip to New York City this season, there is a new Award-Winning TV and Movie Tour that you don’t want to miss. On Location Tours, the Concierge Choice Award Winner for Sightseeing and Tours, is one of the world’s largest TV and movie tour companies and the only one operating in multiple cities. As of right now, they have added a few really amazing tours such as the Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Sites Tour, which gives you a sneak peek into 1950’s Manhattan from a classic car that is featured in the series, to the NYC TV & Movie Tour, which takes you to famous locations from some of the best sitcoms that you have come to love such as Friends and Seinfeld. I just finished the NYC TV & Movie Tour and would love to share with you my experiences, and a few helpful hints that can make this trip even better for you and your family.
First, you want to make sure that you get to the pickup spot 15 minutes before they start to load in. Depending on which tour you book, the place of pickup will be different. Usually these tours sell out, so you will have a full bus load of guests that will need to board the bus, which will take roughly 10 minutes. Once everyone is safely in their seats, the bus will depart. That is why it is important to make sure you are on time and seated so you do not miss your tour.
On each tour you will have a guide who is knowledgeable in the TV & Movie industry. They will direct your attention to different locations along the tour path, while giving you a better understanding on which TV & Films shot there. In addition to the fun facts that you will learn, there is also a movie element that is a part of this tour. You will get the opportunity to see for yourself where the different locations are placed in each film. I had an amazing tour guide, Benji Sills, who had a lot of charisma. He really kept the audience engaged through the whole tour with his wit and quick spontaneity.
There are two times where you will be able to exit the bus to see the locations up close. The first time is when you visit the firehouse from the movie Ghostbusters and the second time is when you visit the apartment that was used in the exterior scenes of Friends. The guide will be there to take pictures of each group and for any questions that you may have. There is a restroom on the bus, which I would suggest using at this time. That way you don’t miss out on any of the other tour sights.
Remember that the length of each tour varies. For my tour, it lasted for three hours. Therefore, you want to be mindful of other plans you may have that could conflict. After you are brought back to the drop-off point, you can sample any of the local cuisine in the area. Usually, one of the restaurants gives a discount for being a guest on the tour bus. Your guide will let you know which restaurant is hosting this discount.
Check out the website, onlocationtours.com, for other packages that they offer. There are tours for every TV & Movie enthusiast to enjoy. Enjoy the Ride!
