Pride Night at PSAM

June 11, 5:00 – 8:00 p.m.Celebrate Pride Month at PSAM during a special Pride Night presented in collaboration with Greater Palm Springs Pride and GED Magazine.

Explore the museum through Q+ Art Bingo, an interactive gallery experience that highlights works by LGBTQ+ artists from the museum’s permanent collection and current exhibitions. Guests can also enjoy a curated playlist created by Lake Verea, the Mexico City based collaborative practice of Francisca Rivero-Lake and Carla Verea, whose work explores memory, identity, architecture, and queer perspective.

Admission is free as part of Free Thursday Night.

June 27, 1:00 – 3:00 p.m.Palm Springs Art Museum presents a special screening of ASCO: WITHOUT PERMISSION, from executive producers Gael García Bernal and Diego Luna, followed by Q&A with Director Travis Gutiérrez and featured artists Maria Maea and San Cha.
The film profiles the extraordinary, Los Angeles based, Chicano art group of the 70’s-80’s, ASCO, who merged activism and art as they challenged representation in the art world, Hollywood and the news media. Unrecognized in their time, they are now being considered amongst the most important artists of the 20th century.

Featuring new work created specifically for Palm Springs Art Museum, the exhibition turns a lens on Palm Springs icons: Richard Neutra’s Kaufmann House and Albert Frey’s Aluminaire House™ and Frey House II, photographed under full moonlight to reveal details invisible under the desert sun.
