Palm Springs, CA (The Hollywood Times) 3/24/26 – There’s something magical about Desert Legends Women’s Weekend, a celebration of connection, creativity, and community set against the stunning backdrop of Palm Springs. And for 2026, that magic expands even further with the addition of a deeply moving and uniquely joyful experience: Biodanza with Dale.
During a recent Zoom interview, I had the pleasure of speaking with Dale, a Massachusetts-based movement facilitator, artist, and creative spirit, who will be leading a special Biodanza workshop on Saturday, April 4th, from 10:00 to 11:30 AM poolside at Hotel Zoso.
“I had wanted to come to Desert Legends for many years,” Dale shared with a smile. “So when Jennifer Corday invited me to bring my Biodanza class, I was incredibly excited. It’s such a beautiful opportunity to offer this practice to queer and lesbian women and create connection in a really unique way.”
For those unfamiliar, Biodanza is not your typical dance class, and that’s exactly the point.
“It’s nothing like Zumba or a traditional dance class,” Dale explained. “I don’t even like to call it dance; I call it moving to music.”
Developed in the 1960s and ’70s by Chilean psychologist Rolando Toro, Biodanza was created as a response to increasing disconnection in modern society. Through guided movement, music, and shared space, participants are invited to reconnect, with themselves and with each other, without the pressure of words or choreography.
“It’s a non-verbal way of meeting people,” Dale said. “There’s no judgment, no steps to memorize. It’s about feeling, presence, and connection.”
One of the most refreshing aspects of Biodanza is its accessibility. Whether you’re a seasoned mover or someone who insists “I don’t dance,” this workshop is designed for you.
“Some movements are as simple as walking around the room,” Dale explained. “There’s no choreography. It’s guided, but always optional. If your body says ‘no,’ you can simply observe, and even that can be a powerful experience.”
The class begins and ends in a circle, creating a sense of shared intention and safety. Participants are encouraged to move at their own comfort level, making the experience inclusive for all ages, abilities, and physical conditions.
“I’ve had people in wheelchairs participate,” Dale added. “There’s truly room for everyone.”
While the Desert Legends workshop will lean into a fun, poolside party atmosphere, Biodanza itself is rooted in something much deeper.
“There’s a whole body of work behind it,” Dale said. “It can activate internal systems, like the parasympathetic nervous system. It’s not just movement; there are really emotional and physiological benefits.”
Participants often leave feeling lighter, more connected, and surprisingly moved.
“I had someone come up to me after a class and say, ‘This could change the world,’” Dale shared. “And honestly, I believe that.”
Dale’s journey to Desert Legends began in Greece, where she met Jennifer Corday during a festival in Lesbos.
“That’s where she invited me,” Dale said. “I feel so honored to be included. It’s such a special community.”
With a background in movement instruction since 2015, and creative pursuits ranging from painting to jewelry design, Dale brings a rich, artistic energy to everything she does.
“Movement helps ground me,” she said. “It connects me back to my body, which supports all my other creative work.”
For those attending Desert Legends and wondering whether to join, Dale offers a simple invitation:
“If you want to have fun, play, and connect with people in a way you’ve never experienced before, come.”
And that’s really what Desert Legends is all about.
Whether you’re diving into pickleball, hitting the golf course, laughing through comedy shows, or soaking in the music, the addition of workshops like Biodanza offers something beautifully different, a chance to slow down, tune in, and connect on a deeper level.
As I shared during our interview: “We’re inviting everyone, our readers, our writers, and all Desert Legends participants, to come meet Dale, come move with us, and experience something truly special.”
So, mark your calendars, bring your curiosity, and get ready to move, not just your body, but your spirit.
We’ll see you poolside.
