Palm Springs, CA (The Hollywood Times) 3/23/26 – As anticipation builds for the 4th annual Desert Legends Women’s Weekend, one of the most unique and soul-stirring experiences on the schedule is Animal Connections with Sandy Rakowitz, taking place Friday, April 3rd from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM at Hotel Zoso.

During a recent planning Zoom meeting, Rakowitz, an award-winning multidimensional coach and animal communicator, shared her passion for helping women deepen their intuitive connection not only with their animals, but with themselves.

“It’s a weekend of lesbians, fun events, in the desert, it’s going to be awesome,” Rakowitz said with a smile. “And the people involved are just totally amazing. It’s going to be so much fun.”

Rakowitz’s journey into animal communication began decades ago, rooted in her early experiences working with horses. Though she didn’t grow up with animals in her home, she found a deep, nonverbal connection through horseback riding in the 1970s, a time when intuitive practices like ESP were just beginning to enter mainstream awareness.

Her path became more defined in the 1980s after working with a troubled thoroughbred horse she couldn’t reach through traditional training methods. That experience led her to seek out an animal communicator, and what she discovered changed her life forever.

“I was absolutely blown out of the water,” she recalled. “I thought, I want to be able to do this.”

One particularly profound moment came when that same horse revealed, through a communicator, that he wasn’t sure he wanted to live.

“It completely cracked everything open for me,” Rakowitz shared. “It made me realize animals are conscious beings making choices, just like we are.”

For Rakowitz, animal communication goes far beyond curiosity, it’s a powerful pathway to emotional healing.

She explained that animals often mirror human emotions and conflicts, offering insight into our own inner worlds. By understanding an animal’s perspective, people can unlock deeper empathy, release long-held guilt, and restore emotional harmony.

“Sometimes we’re more willing to understand an animal than another person,” she noted. “And that opens a doorway to understanding ourselves.”

Her work has helped many individuals’ process grief, especially around difficult decisions such as euthanasia, and reconnect with animals who have passed on.

Rakowitz’s Animal Connections workshop at Desert Legends is designed to be interactive, welcoming, and accessible to all, no prior experience required.

Participants will be guided through intuitive exercises to help them “tune in” and communicate with their animals, gaining insights that are often surprising and deeply validating.

“People are always amazed at how much information they can receive,” she said. “It helps them realize they’re far more intuitive than they thought.”

The workshop also offers a unique opportunity to connect with fellow animal lovers in a meaningful way, fostering deeper bonds within the Desert Legends community.

Attendees are encouraged to bring:

  • A photo of their animal (on their phone is perfect)
  • A personal item carrying their energy (such as jewelry, a watch, or clothing)
  • Paper and a pen

Whether your beloved companion is a dog, cat, horse, bird; or even a fish; Rakowitz emphasizes that all species are welcome.

Rakowitz’s message to attendees is simple:

“If you have an animal and you’re even the least bit curious, just come. You don’t need experience, just love for your animal and a willingness to explore.”

As Desert Legends continues to create space for connection, empowerment, and joy, workshops like Animal Connections add a deeply personal and transformative dimension to the weekend.
