Satin & Soul and The Changer & The Changed Bring Two Days of Music, Legacy and Community to Palm Springs

Palm Springs, CA (The Hollywood Times) 9/17/26 – The Hollywood Times is proud to announce its new media partnership with the Sunset Music & Education Foundation, joining the organization as it prepares for an extraordinary November weekend celebrating women’s voices, musical artistry, history and the next generation of performers.
On Saturday, November 14, and Sunday, November 15, the Palm Springs Sunset Music Series presents two distinctly different concerts united by one purpose: bringing artists and audiences together while using music to make a difference.
The weekend begins Saturday evening with SATIN & SOUL, an intimate blend of smooth jazz, soul, R&B, spoken word and musical inspiration featuring acclaimed saxophonist Pamela Williams, Sunset Music founder and artistic visionary Sweet Baby J’ai, rising student performers and Musical Director Sunnie Paxson. The concert takes place at Hotel Zoso in Palm Springs at 7 p.m.
Williams, affectionately known as “The Saxtress,” has built an international career as a saxophonist, composer, producer and arranger. Her 1996 debut Saxtress reached Billboard’s Contemporary Jazz Album Top 10, and she has toured with artists including Patti LaBelle and Teena Marie.
The celebration continues Sunday afternoon with a program deeply rooted in the history and future of women’s music.
On Sunday, November 15 at 2 p.m., Living Out Palm Springs and Sunset Music present The Changer & The Changed, bringing together Cris Williamson, Corday and Abby Posner for a rare concert representing three generations of women making music on their own terms.
The performance will take place at Living Out Palm Springs, 1122 E. Tahquitz Canyon Way, with VIP, premium and general seating and complimentary valet parking.
At the center of the afternoon is Cris Williamson, whose landmark 1975 album The Changer and the Changed became a cornerstone of the women’s music movement and remains one of the most enduring independent recordings from that era. Williamson helped inspire the creation of Olivia Records and has spent decades writing, recording and touring while providing a musical voice for generations of women.
The Palm Springs celebration will also honor Williamson with the Sunset Music & Education Foundation Legacy of Inspiration Award, recognizing her extraordinary contribution to women’s music.
Joining Williamson is Southern California favorite Corday, the award-winning singer-songwriter, guitarist and cellist known for energetic performances that can move effortlessly from intimate ballads to full-out rock. Corday has released five award-winning studio albums, earned more than 20 music awards and shared stages with artists including Melissa Etheridge, Sarah McLachlan, Joan Jett and Pat Benatar. Her newest releases include Find Another Girl To Fix, released earlier this year.
Completing this multi-generational musical gathering is Abby Posner, a Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist whose music blends folk, Americana, roots, rock and pop. Posner won the Grand Prize in the 2023 USA Songwriting Competition for “Get Loud” and has appeared at AmericanaFest, Folk Alliance International and Hardly Strictly Bluegrass.
Together, Williamson, Corday and Posner represent a musical continuum, the women who helped create their own spaces, the artists who carried that independent spirit forward, and a new generation redefining what women’s music can sound like.
That sense of connection is at the heart of the Sunset Music & Education Foundation itself.
Its programming stretches across jazz, blues, soul, Latin music, country, classical, world music, spoken word and comedy while intentionally creating opportunities for voices that have too often been underrepresented.
Just as importantly, the nonprofit’s work extends well beyond the stage. Through its SMARTS Initiative, Sunset Music supports young people throughout the Coachella Valley with musical instruments, scholarships, mentorship and performance opportunities. Proceeds from the November concerts help support that mission.
