(with a wink to Paul Revere)
Before hashtags, before “breaking news” alerts, there was Paul Revere — a silversmith, patriot, and America’s original town crier on horseback. Back in 1775, he galloped through the Massachusetts night shouting, “The British are coming!” to warn colonial militia that change was literally thundering down the road.
Fast-forward to today — no lanterns, no saddles, just the rhythm of drums, spotlights, and soul. We’re sounding our own midnight call:
“The Festival is coming! The Festival is coming!”
Only this time, the revolution’s got a groove.
Our ride is powered by music, laughter, and poetry. Instead of muskets, we’ve got microphones. Instead of a warning, it’s an invitation — to gather, to celebrate, to feel alive again. All day long downtown Palm Springs will be serving up PRIDE in the streets.
So pack your fan (you’ll need it ), and join us in the evenings as the Sunset Music & Comedy Festival gallops into PRIDE Weekend with a chorus of community and joy that would make old Paul himself drop the reins and start clapping on the two and the four. View the lineup here.

This month, we’re lifting our spiced mugs high to Valerie Milano, publisher and senior editor of The Hollywood Times, who will receive the Spirit of Stonewall Arts & Culture Award from Palm Springs PRIDE for her powerful journalism and unwavering commitment to LGBTQ+ storytelling — from the Palm Springs LGBTQ+ Film Festival to Cinema Diverse and others. A true champion of visibility, Valerie continues to amplify voices that deserve to be heard.
Well deserved, Valerie — and if you really want to see brilliance in action, tune in to witness her excellent interviewing skills.
Pour something warm and let the steam rise like a prelude. Add a dash of spice — cinnamon, clove, maybe a whisper of bourbon — and sink into the rhythm. The season’s turning, and so is the stage. Here’s your sneak peek at a few of the queer artists ready to make next weekend unforgettable. |

We didn’t just join Palm Springs PRIDE this year — we became part of it. As an official Pride event, our festival stage isn’t just a stage — it’s a lifeline, a love line, a groove that connects us all.
Across the country, we’ve watched books get banned, classrooms silenced, and queer voices pushed to the margins under the weight of “culture wars” that feel anything but cultural. But art — queer art — refuses to go quietly. It sings. It paints. It writes. It dances. It stays.
This is a special year for us – PRIDE landed on our festival weekend this year, so we rolled right in full throttle! Showcasing queer artists isn’t about checking a diversity box — it’s about holding space for truth-telling. Every note, every brushstroke, every joke, every poem says: We’re still here. It’s about visibility that saves lives, creativity that builds bridges, and stories that remind us love is a revolutionary act.
At a time when fear is getting too much airtime, queer artists are reminding the world that beauty and courage are still trending. They show us that identity is not a headline — it’s harmony.
So, when the lights come up at the Sunset Music & Comedy Festival, know this:
Every performer on that stage is doing more than entertaining you — they’re carrying a legacy born from protest, pulpit, and pure joy. And when they sing, play, or make you laugh, it’s not just a show — it’s a shared mission. Together with you, the audience, they’re helping power the Sunset Music and Education Foundation (SMEF) — funding instruments for students, scholarships for young musicians, and programs that keep the heartbeat of music and educational programming alive in our community.
Because art has always been resistance — it’s also restoration. And this year, resistance looks a lot like rhythm, laughter, and love.
