LOS ANGELES – February 2, 2024 — Last night’s premiere of The Chosen Season 4, Episodes 1 -3 scored big yesterday, grossing 1,410,174 million and landing in second place in Thursday’s box office. The Chosen Season 4, Episodes 1 – 3 was also number one in per screen average with an estimated 113,000 people coming to the theater to see the series on the big screen.

The historical drama that has become one of the most-watched shows in the world, is releasing every episode of its Season 4 exclusively in theaters with a five-week run, which began on February 1. Fathom Events will screen The Chosen in over 2,300 theaters in the U.S. and Canada – the largest footprint ever for a Fathom title.

The rollout of Season 4 in cinemas begins with a two-week run of Episodes 1-3 on February 1, 2024, followed by Episodes 4-6 in theaters beginning February 15, and Episodes 7-8 beginning February 29 via Fathom Events in the U.S. and Canada.

We were at our local Regal theater in Rancho Cucamonga for the 6pm showing and after taking our seats, I noticed there were only a few folks in the theater and I thought, “come on folks, where are you?” Of course I was somewhat early and around 6:00 folks started to come in 2, 5 and a group of 8 came in and took their seats.  The footage that was shown on before episode was amazing.  I don’t want to give it away, so GO SEE it in the movie theater!  Ok, it was footage of where The Chosen is filmed and shots of the lakes, grassland on the set.  So worth it and don’t be late.  I was lucky enough to see the first three episodes via screeners on my laptop and then I was blessed to be part of The Chosen Teal Carpet and Season 4 premiere screening and saw episodes 1 and 2 on the big screen and that was awesome.  See it for the third time last night was even more moving and emotional.  The audience laughed, cheered, cried, sobbed and was so silent at the end of episode 3.  It was hard for me to fall asleep when I got home. There was a 5 minute intermission between episode 2 and 3. Also director and creator Dallas Jenkins was on the big screen to tell us a few secrets and talked about being on set for his latest Christmas movie The Best Christmas Pageant Ever that he is filming in Canada currently. Elizabeth Tabish and Vanessa Benavente are part of the cast as well as cast: Judy Greer, Pete Holmes, Molly Belle Wright and Lauren Graham.

I honestly believe Dallas has a twin or even a triplet out there, I don’t know how is does it!  He is a true hero.  Judy Shields, The Hollywood Times

Here are few photos taken during the intermission for those of us who didn’t leave the theater:

Fathom’s long relationship with The Chosen has been both celebrated and successful in bringing this fan favorite series to the big screen – the first endeavor in this partnership being Christmas With The Chosen: The Messengers in November of 2021. The events went on to gross more than 13.8 million in box office revenue.  Fathom then went on to debut Season 3, Episodes 1 and 2 of The Chosen in November of 2022, which saw more than 14.6 million in gross box office revenue. This was then followed up with the finale episode of Season 3, bringing in more than 5.5 million in just seven days. The grand total box office for The Chosen titles with Fathom is approximately $40 million.

“We’re thrilled to continue our collaboration with The Chosen team, this time bringing fans the entire fourth season to cinemas before it is available anywhere else,” said Ray Nutt, CEO of Fathom Events. “This box office number, paired with the fact this is the largest theater footprint we have ever seen at over 2,300, is a testament to the power of The Chosen and the desire of fans to share in the communal, theatrical experience.”

I wanted to share the teal carpet interviews with the creative team and cast for you to also enjoy to get you motivated even more to go see The Chosen Season 4 in the theaters.  Judy Shields, The Hollywood Times.
