That’s So Raven Actor To Star in New Sitcom on AMC Network!

By Jules Lavallee

Los Angeles, California (The Hollywood Times) 2/19/2021 –  Kyle Massey is considered one of Hollywood’s most recognizable faces in the entertainment industry today. He is an actor, producer, musician, and entrepreneur best known for his television roles on Disney Channel’s THAT’S SO RAVEN. When Kyle is not acting, he is an entrepreneur who runs multiple businesses across the country and enjoys being part owner of Hollywood’s new live streaming platform, Stream Live. He spoke with the Hollywood Times about his new show, Millenials.

What do you enjoy the most about showbiz?

I enjoy the creative side of showbiz. I’m able to create content that will forever last on film and television.

Share a favorite moment on set.

For me, it’s the moment when you wrap the first season. The moment when you feel like you did it. It’s a feeling of accomplishment, and it’s something I always look forward to. Another great feeling is the relationships you build onset. While filming Millennials, I had so much fun acting alongside my castmates. We instantly connected and got along really well. When the first season wrapped, it felt good to know that we collectively created a possible masterpiece. I felt good about my performance because I gave it my all.

You have paved the way for many black actors by being one of the first all-black shows at a time when black actors were underrepresented in the industry. How has 2020 changed your perspective in the industry?

2020 presented challenges that definitely changed my perspective on a lot of things. People struggled to find jobs and acting gigs, especially those of color and it was eye-opening. Being cast on a show led by black actors when work was scarce made me more focused and humble. I worked harder than I’ve ever worked before, and it became crucial for me to be a better actor. A more focused actor.

Tell us about your new show, Millennials. What led you to the project?

Millennials is a multi-camera comedy sitcom based on young adults navigating through the chaos of being young. I play Omar, the straight-laced business student who has dreams of taking over the corporate world. He’s driven by the fact that all his friends depend on him to take care of every situation they encounter. Omar is responsible for every important matter in the house like the finances, pay renting on time, etc. The show is very authentic and relatable.

I was excited to join the cast because I’ve known Rugg Williams and Sabina my entire life. One of my first opportunities was with their son Zackery Isaiah Williams, a writer for the Parkers. The Parkers was literally the first show I appeared on before That’s So Raven. I was eight years old at the time, so we go way back. This is my first time working with Bently Kyle Evans. I’m familiar with his work, and it’s been incredible having him onboard.

Millennials will be airing on AMC Network’s newly rebranded black streaming services Thursday, February 25th. Be sure to check it out!

What do you enjoy most about the show?

I like how light and comedy-driven the show is. Everything is a joke on the show. Although most of it is not serious, we touch on serious topics but in a joking way to make people laugh. Laughing is a therapy for the soul.

When you are not acting, what do you enjoy most?

Lately, I’ve been working and writing for other television shows. I’m at a point in my life where I want to expand my talents and produce my own projects. I also run multiple businesses across the country and enjoy being part owner of a live streaming company and studio hotspot in Hollywood.

Overall, I’m enjoying life and eating healthy while staying focused on elevating my career.

How important is giving back to the community?

Giving back to my community is a priority to me. I’m working with the Starkey Hearing Foundation as an ambassador to help provide free hearing care services to people in need around the world. I also support my mom’s Pick Me Foundation to help provide opportunities and resources to Atlanta’s inner-city youth.
