Los Angeles, CA (The Hollywood Times) 1/28/26 – Lambda Legal is taking comedy to the front lines of activism with the launch of Stand Up for Equality, a new signature event that blends laughter, community, and purpose—and The Hollywood Times is proud to be there as both media partner and Lambda Legal major donor.
On Wednesday, March 4, 2026, the historic Saban Theatre will host an extraordinary evening headlined by Tig Notaro and Matteo Lane, two of the most distinctive and fearless voices in contemporary comedy. The night brings together a powerhouse lineup of queer performers for a cause that has never been more urgent: protecting the civil rights of LGBTQ+ people and everyone living with HIV.
This inaugural benefit is both a celebration and a call to action. Comedy has long been a lifeline in queer culture, an act of resistance, resilience, and connection—and Stand Up for Equality leans fully into that tradition. Alongside Notaro and Lane, the stage will feature legendary cult favorite Dina Martina, plus rising comedy stars Roz Hernandez and Rachel Scanlon. Also joining the evening are Guy Branum, Solomon Georgio, and activist-comedian Dana Goldberg, with additional performers still to be announced.
Produced by Emmy-nominated producer Page Hurwitz, the event promises more than stand-up alone. Audiences can expect a dynamic mix of comedy, music, and special presenters, designed not only to entertain, but to unite a community that understands joy itself as an act of defiance.
As Kevin Jennings, CEO of Lambda Legal, has often emphasized, LGBTQ+ activism has always been intertwined with creativity and courage. This night reflects that ethos, meeting fear with laughter, and isolation with togetherness. Tig Notaro echoed that spirit, noting her respect for organizations that focus on meaningful action rather than rhetoric, a sentiment that resonates deeply in this moment.
For The Hollywood Times, covering Stand Up for Equality is both professional and personal. As longtime advocates and members of Lambda Legal, we understand that these legal battles shape real lives, on stages, in classrooms, in hospitals, and in homes across the country. Events like this one remind us that culture and policy are inseparable, and that laughter can be a powerful tool for change.
Tickets and sponsorship opportunities are available now, with proceeds directly supporting Lambda Legal’s impact litigation, education, and policy work nationwide.
On March 4, Beverly Hills won’t just be laughing, it will be standing up.
