“I knew the second I heard the hook of this song that I was living it. Being newly married and 2.5 years sober, I really spend my time differently off the road. I’d rather be on the couch with my wife & dog instead of in the barroom on a day off. That is my “somewhere better to be,” expressed Jake Bush.
“Somewhere Better To Be” narrates a personal growth and transformation journey, depicted through vivid imagery and nostalgic reminiscence. Reflections of humble beginnings and cherish leisure moments, determined to make the most of what one has. The essence of being carefree and the passage of time to experiencing a newfound sense of urgency and purpose as a relationship reassesses priorities and embraces change.
The U.S. Army Veteran has seen six of his songs rise to number one on the Texas Radio Chart since 2020 while committing to bring listeners nothing but authentic country music as his career progresses.
“I’d put some gas in the truck
I’d get the rent paid up
I’d have one hell of a time with what I had left
I’d get a foot in the door
They’d get that first one poured
I’d put a pedal to the metal full speed ahead
There wasn’t nothing gonna slow me down
I wish me then could see me now
I was the king of the bar
I was a friend of the band
I never went too long with an empty can in my hand
I shut the neon down ‘round two or three
Had some of the best times of my lif
Till I had somewhere better to be
She’s got me checking my phone
She’s got me burning the road up
Fast as my truck can get to her place…”
The infectious party song was co-written by Dan Alley, Tim Nichols and Greg Bates with Phil O’Donnell as Music Producer. It was recorded at Omnisound Studios Nashville, with Seth Morton (mixing) Rory Rositas (engineering) and Mastering provided by Mike Cervantes at The Foxboro. A-list session musicians included Troy Lancaster (electric guitar), Shaun Richardson (acoustic guitar), Russ Pahl (steel guitar), Aubrey Haynie (fiddle), Jimmy Carter (bass), Evan Hutchings (drums) and Michael Rojas (keys.)

Experience the bold and tastefully simple fusion that defines his music – “Where 90s Meets Now.”
Born in Pasadena, Texas, Jake Bush’s journey began as the youngest among five siblings. Enduring the loss of his mother at an early age, music became his solace – a refuge where Jake found peace, residency and hope. Growing up, he immersed himself in the soul-stirring melodies played out on GAC and CMT videos of his idols Keith Whitley, Daryle Singletary, Craig Morgan, George Jones, Mark Wills and Tim McGraw, among countless other pioneers of the ‘90s era. After completing high school, Bush joined the United States Army Reserves, serving at Ellington Field in Webster, Texas.
In October 2020, Jake released his first seven-song album, aptly titled 7, amidst the tumultuous backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic. The album’s lead single, “Gravity & You,” soared to the top of the Texas Regional Radio Report, fueled by a remarkable 21-week run and securing Bush his first number-one hit in Texas. His second release from 7, “Better By The Beer,” co-written by Bush, marched up the charts for an impressive 20 weeks, clinching his second consecutive number one on the Texas Regional Radio Report. On February 11, 2022, Jake achieved his third number-one hit with the self-penned “If You Ever Get Lonely,” after an astonishing 32-week journey on the Texas Radio Charts. With three consecutive chart-toppers from a single record, Bush made an indelible mark on the Texas Music Scene – during one the most historically challenging times for musicians.
In February 2022, Bush unveiled his latest album, Where 90s Meets Now, brimming with heart-wrenching, 90s-inspired breakup anthems and captivating cowgirl ballads that have resonated with listeners across the United States and beyond. Jake kick-started its release with the irresistible single “Tractor Town,” igniting dance floors across Texas and propelling the song to the top of the charts after 22 weeks – an impressive feat that marked Bush’s fourth consecutive number-one. Additionally, “Cowgirl,” another gem from the same record, conquered Texas Radio, climbing the charts for 22 weeks and securing Jake his fifth consecutive #1 smash hit!
Bush’s commitment to Country music is unwavering – with a tireless and professional work ethic showing no signs of backing down, slowing down or ever entertaining the thought of releasing anything slightly off the path of COUNTRY music.
Currently, Jake is engrossed in writing and recording for his highly-anticipated debut album, collaborating with renowned Nashville producer Phil O’Donnell, also known as Philbilly.
Stay tuned and take comfort knowing the torch is still burning – and Jake is carrying it forward for Traditional Country Music!
