Los Angeles, CA (The Hollywood Times) 6/18/25 – One But Many is a powerful documentary that reveals the direct correlation between bureaucracy and the corrupt system behind trophy hunting, as well as the escalating global crisis of human-wildlife conflict. It exposes the corruption and deep ties between trophy hunting and policy decisions driven by both the United States and African governments.
Watch Trailer:
Directed by Janna Giacoppo, One But Many marks her directorial debut. The film premieres on June 29th at the 28th annual Dances With Films Festival (DWF) in Hollywood. Raw and provocative, it was filmed in Kenya and uncovers every aspect of the corruption within the trophy hunting industry. This cruel and sickening “sport” not only exploits local communities but has also pushed many animal species to the brink of extinction.
The documentary opens with a poignant example of human-wildlife conflict, featuring an elephant that wanders into farmland. A few individuals share their heartbreaking stories about losing loved ones to such incidents. These narratives are often manipulated by policymakers who use them as justification for the killing of these animals. The film explains how some people endorse trophy hunting as a form of revenge, illustrating that the conflict is often exacerbated by the very act of trophy hunting, which makes animals more hostile.
Additionally, One But Many exposes U.S. lawmakers who promote these harmful agendas, alongside lobbyists who mislead the public and facilitate the trafficking of animal parts.
The film is both shocking and tragic, revealing how many communities in Africa have been exploited. It also highlights the benefits of protecting these animals and conserving their habitats, demonstrating that coexistence is advantageous for the communities that share their environment with these magnificent creatures.
One But Many is not just a remarkable film; it also reveals a horrifying reality—the truth that our tax dollars contribute to trophy hunting and the extinction of animals. I urge everyone to watch the film, premiering at Dances With Films on June 29th at 2:30 PM at Hollywood’s TCL Chinese 6 Theatres.
