Los Angeles, CA (The Hollywood Times) 7/17/22 – Showtime Original, The Chi returns for its fifth season, digging right into the joys and complications of Blackness. Audiences will see Black love at its core through relationships, children, career, community, and self.
Emmett (Jacob Latimore) and Tiff (Hannaha Hibbert) will be seen co-parenting, while Tiff attempts to figure out what she wants her life to look like in terms of intimate relationships and family matters; going through this process has made her grow closer to her new love interest Rob (Iman Shumpert). Kiesha (Birgundi Baker) works to rebuild her life as a new mom to baby Ronnie, and her mother Nina (Tyler Abercrumbie) and wife Dre (Miriam A. Hyman) work on their union. Kevin (Alex Hibbert) finds a new love interest, while Jake (Michael V. Epps) and Papa (Shamon Brown Jr.) try to resolve their issues with Jemma (Judae’a Brown) and Maisha (Genesis Denise Hale). Jada (Yolanda Ross) evaluates her life post-cancer. She must decide where Suede (Bernard Gilbert) will fit in, while her ex-husband Darnell (Rolando Boyce) considers their past relationship along with his current one with Dom (La La Anthony). Finally, Douda (Curtis Cook) and Tracy (Tai Davis) push Trig (Luke James) into considering a political run for the greater good of the city, which could end up costing him his family.
