Game Six Final Score: 3 to 1 Dodgers

It has been 32 years since the Dodgers have won a World Series Championship. The 2020 season of the World Series was a best-of-seven playoff between the American League Tampa Bay Rays and the National League Los Angeles Dodgers.
Not necessarily a nail biter, but a sit on the edge of your seat kind of game that makes you say, “Come on. Let’s get this over with and win!” Game 6 of the World Series on Tuesday at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas was the Dodgers sixth game of the series in which they led 3 games to 2 against the Tampa Bay Rays. The Boys in Blue were held to a score of 1 to 0 in favor of the Rays until the sixth inning when Rays pitcher, Blake Snell was taken out of the game – bringing a sigh of relief to the Dodgers. This pitching change gave outfielder Mookie Betts the opportunity he needed as he hit a double which put the Dodgers in the running to take the lead. Betts dashed from third base to home plate on the go-ahead run on the infield grounder of Corey Seager. He also started the eighth with a long-overdue homer which placed the Dodgers in the lead with a score of 3 to 1.
In the top of the ninth, Dodgers’ fans, co-owner Magic Johnson and his wife Cookie were on their feet with two outs and two strikes on the Rays, Adames as Urias pitched. The final pitch comes and Adames swings and STRIKES OUT!
DODGERS win the 2020 World Series
Players ran out onto the field with huge smiles on their faces. They hugged each other, pumped their fists, clapped, and hopped in the air in total excitement of the long-overdue World Series Championship win. Austin Barnes caught the final pitched, strikeout ball that ended the World Series Championship drought for the Dodgers.
Fireworks could be heard popping in the air around the city of Los Angeles as fans celebrated the win.
Amidst the exhilaration and celebration, Dodgers fan-favorite player, Justin Turner was taken out of the game due to a covid-19 positive test result. It’s heartbreaking that he was not able to share in the celebration but he was there in spirit.
“Thanks to everyone reaching out! I feel great, no symptoms at all. Just experienced every emotion you can possibly imagine. Can’t believe I couldn’t be out there to celebrate with my guys! So proud of this team & unbelievably happy for the City of LA.” Turner said on Twitter.
Corey Seager, World Series MVP recipient shared his thoughts on what this win means to him and the team.
“Man, this was just awesome. What this team has accomplished this year, throughout the regular season, grinding through every series, we got down 3-1, came all the way back. The resilience, the effort, the energy — everything that this team has done this year, it’s just been fun to be a part of,” said Seager.
