Indian actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui received a Special Industry Excellence Award at the VIP opening reception of the fourth annual French Riviera Film Festival held at 3 p.m. on May 20th, 2022 at the Bel-Air Fine Art Gallery.  The award was presented by Emmy-winning actor Vincent De Paul.

Well known for his work in movies like Manto, Raman Raghav, Gangs of Wasseypur (Duology), Lunchbox, and TV series like Sacred Games and McMafia, Siddiqui graced the Cannes red carpet earlier this week as a part of the Indian government’s initiative to celebrate India’s diversity in the arts.  This week it was announced that he would play the lead in the new film Laxman Lopez by director Roberto Girault, making him one of the first lead protagonists of Indian origin cast in a Hollywood film.
