NASHVILLE, TN – (July 28, 2023) – Currently touring and celebrating their 60-year anniversary together, Country Rock band Exile, is excited to announce the release of a new single, “Rough Around the Edges,” off of their highly anticipated anniversary album, A Million Miles Later, to be released next month. The high-energy tune with heavy guitar and upbeat piano work is the first new music released as a single to radio in 31 years and is sure to get fans moving! “Rough Around the Edges” is about a man’s plea to be taken seriously by a woman that’s above his social standing. Simply, Exile’s greatest hope is that people like the song and can relate to it.
“The song was written several years ago by Les Taylor, Larry Cordle and myself,” shared JP Pennington. “We always thought it would work for the band and we’re glad it’s finally seeing the light.”
Co-Writer and Exile member Les Taylor added, “I’m excited about the song being the first single from the new project, and maybe this song will help some guy get the girl he thinks is exactly what she needs.”

“Rough Around the Edges” was co-written by J.P. Pennington, Les Taylor and Larry Cordle and produced by Pennington and Sonny LeMaire. Recording was done at Tower Station Studio, Lexington, Kentucky, The DAWg Houze Studio and Country Q Studios in Nashville, Tennessee.
Musicians were Exile band members Steve Goetzman (drums), Marlon Hargis (keyboards), Sonny LeMaire (bass), J.P. Pennington (electric and acoustic guitar) and Les Taylor (acoustic guitar).

Exile formed in 1963 looking to play small clubs in Richmond, Kentucky, but managed to top both the pop and country charts during their nearly 60-year-long career. Their most successful hit, “Kiss You All Over” spent four weeks at the top of Billboard’s pop chart in 1978. In the early 1980’s Exile started to focus on country music.
