West Hollywood, CA (The Hollywood Times) 10/1/26 — The West Hollywood community mourns the passing of a local treasure, visionary artist, and cultural icon, Tai Ping Gregorich, who passed away peacefully in her sleep on October 1st at the age of 88.
A woman of extraordinary breadth and talent, Tai Ping’s journey was defined by a relentless passion for artistic expression and community. Long before she became a beloved fixture in West Hollywood, she captivated audiences nationwide as a trailblazing burlesque dancer. Her fierce grace, distinct style, and pioneering presence earned her an honored place in the Burlesque Hall of Fame in Las Vegas as a true Living Legend.
In 1977, Tai Ping transitioned her focus to deeper academic and creative pursuits, earning her degree in Sociology. That deep understanding of human connection and culture seamlessly spilled into her visual artwork.
Beyond the stage and the easel, Tai Ping emerged as a dedicated West Hollywood community leader. Her warmth, intellect, and creative spirit brought people together, enriching the local arts scene and inspiring everyone who crossed her path. She did not merely live in the community; she elevated it.
Though the final curtain has fallen on a remarkable life, Tai Ping’s legacy endures in the lives she touched, the art she created, and the community she helped shape. She leaves behind a world that is undeniably richer, brighter, and better for having known her.
