HEKLA: A Touching Look at the Actress’s Journey

Tuesday, June 23

By Valerie Milano

Hollywood, CA (The Hollywood Times) 6/27/26 – Screening at Dances With Films that screened last Tuesday, June 23, HEKLA is a lovely and heartfelt short film about the unpredictable path of an actress trying to find her place in the business.

The film captures something very real about the entertainment world, the hope, the nerves, the rejection, and the determination it takes to keep going. As someone who was an actor and model back in the day, I found myself relating to Hekla’s experience. There is a certain vulnerability that comes with putting yourself out there, walking into rooms, being judged, and still believing that the next opportunity could be the one that changes everything.

What makes HEKLA especially engaging is its lead actress, who is quite amazing. She brings such honesty and charm to the role that you immediately want to follow her journey. Her performance feels natural, layered, and full of quiet strength.

HEKLA is a short film with a lot of heart. It reminds us that artists are not only chasing success, but they are also chasing purpose, identity, and the courage to keep showing up.
