Mega Platinum band POISON moved to Hollywood March 1984 after a brutal cross country, accident riddled trip from their smalltown, Mechanicsburg PA.
First staying in small apartments on Whitley & then Orange, by the Chinese Theatre, the young men moved to a warehouse off Washington Blvd, east of La Brea & ultimately a house off Mulholland just north of the Hollywood Bowl. “You can say”, drummer/co-founder Rikki Rockett tells us, “We have Hollywood all over our DNA and we played some of our most important developing shows on & off the Sunset Strip!”
Amongst their vital performances include a residency at The Troubadour, The Roxy Theatre, Whisky, and recorded 3 of their 4 first Platinum+ albums at Hollywood Studios.
“We felt the energy of past legends”, Rockett continues, “in the hallways & rooms of these famed recording studios!” Rikki never takes it for granted, “We did our first Big L.A. In-Store Appearance at the famed WHEREHOUSE at Sunset & La Brea and we had girls on roller skates up & down the streets & pulled our Tour Bus right up next to the store & it was wild!”
Rikki returns the FAVOR this Friday May 16 at 5pm onward for a free concert at the giant outdoor mall at the Ovation Mall at Hollywood & Highland with his group ROCKETT MAFIA. In celebration of the Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride & Kick Off Party benefit great charities. Rikki promises “Nuthin’ but a good time for all in attendance!”
