Writer and creator Sharon Horgan knew straightaway that Bad Sisters was for her the minute she read the script inundated with equal parts comedy and drama. She explains, “I knew exactly that it was the right show for me. Actually, I’m used to writing smaller sitcoms about relationships and I thought I needed a break from that to do something different. I was sort of nervous about it initially because it’s an hour long, it’s a thriller, and it’s in Belgian which I don’t speak- as soon as I watched the first episode, I knew it was for me. I come from a big family, so I really loved the dynamic of that large family.”

Actress Eve Hewson, who plays the sister Becka Garvey admitted that it was a bit difficult to toe the line between the genres of thriller and comedy as the script demanded. She explores, “As an actor, I mainly have done drama, and this was the first time I have had to marry comedy and drama which was very difficult. It took me a while to get into it because it has to come from a real place, the emotions have to come from somewhere true. But you also have to make sure that you land the punchline, at the same time. I have learned so much from Sharon. She is one of the best actors I’ve worked with because she does it seamlessly.”
