If you’re like me, you love Universal Studios, especially the Studio Tour Ride. It takes you to nostalgic places like Jaws, Wisteria Lane, and Backdraft, as well as magical locations like King Kong’s Skull Island. One of my favorite parts of the ride was, of course, the Fast and Furious 3D segment. I rode it last year, and it was still there, but when I returned to the park a few weeks later, it had been removed from the tour. Although we passed by some of the cars, our tour guide explained that it was being taken out because it was transitioning into a ride. I was excited by this news but initially thought it would be another 3D experience. To my surprise, I later discovered it was going to be a roller coaster.

Earlier this year, I visited the park and saw the coaster being built. The anticipation grew, and now the wait is almost over. Universal Studios has added a new level of adrenaline to its global entertainment destination with the arrival of Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift.

“Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift” opens on Wednesday, September 16, at Universal Studios Hollywood. This eagerly awaited outdoor, high-speed roller coaster will deliver an unprecedented surge of adrenaline and a new level of intensity, unlike anything experienced in the park’s long history.
With its striking visual design and state-of-the-art ride technology, this all-new roller coaster the fastest in the Universal Destinations & Experiences portfolio is set to redefine the thrill ride experience and further enrich Universal Studios Hollywood, which is renowned for creating world-class rides and attractions inspired by today’s most iconic entertainment properties.

The $7 billion Fast & Furious franchise, which celebrates its 25th anniversary this year, serves as the driving force behind the new outdoor roller coaster, “Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift.” With speed, adrenaline, and street racing at its core, the 11-film franchise is a perfect fit for a coaster at a theme park known for its movie-themed attractions. Additionally, an all-new film in the saga, Fast Forever, will race into theaters in March 2028.
