FoLAR’s Earth Day 2024 events are both just a few days away – and today we’re turning the spotlight to our first-EVER Earth Day Extravaganza! event happening THIS Sunday!
Keep it local this Earth Day and join us for a fun-packed, family-friendly day at the beloved Lewis MacAdams Riverfront Park!
This Earth Day event will feature hands-on eco learning activities, a guided walk along the LA River, eco-art activities, live music, raffles, food trucks, a visit from FoLAR’s River Rover, and much more! Earth Day Extravaganza is an opportunity to enjoy a day outdoors while celebrating critical local ecosystems like the LA River!
We can’t wait to celebrate the LA River with you in just a few days!
Earth Day Extravaganza activities will include:
- Hands-on learning activities with FoLAR Educators like making native seedballs
- Eco art activities like creating your own compost jar, painting pots, and making natural ink
- FoLAR’s LA River Rover – our 38-foot mobile visitor and education center with interactive exhibits
- Raffles and giveaways
- Food trucks
- Live music and poetry
- An eco-friendly market place
- Tables with FoLAR partners like KCRW, Elysian Valley Art Collective, Roots & Shoots with the Jane Goodall Institute, 100 Acre partnership, The Nature Conservancy, Dashboard.Earth, and more!

Last year, FoLAR introduced our new donation platform which allows you to create your own online fundraiser or fundraising team. Earth Day is the perfect opportunity to craft a unique message sharing what the LA River means to you and help us reach our Earth Day fundraising goal!
In one year, our team of just 14 staff and educators was able to provide education to 7,800+ K-12 students, graduate our first cohort of high school LA River Fellows, remove thousands of gallons of invasive species, top 1.6 million pounds of trash removed from the LA River since the beginning of our Great LA River CleanUp, engage in local environmental advocacy projects like the 100 Acre Partnership, and much more.
