Palm Springs, CA (The Hollywood Times) 3/28/26 – As part of the upcoming Desert Legends Women’s Weekend, golf enthusiasts and community supporters will gather on April 3, 2026, for the Desert Legends Golf Tournament at the scenic Indian Canyons Golf Resort North Course. Now in its third year, the tournament continues to grow as a signature event within the Desert Legends celebration, blending friendly competition, philanthropy, and community connection.

The Hollywood Times, proud media partner of Desert Legends, recently joined a planning Zoom interview with tournament co-directors Beverly Barrett and Lisa Bassi to discuss what participants can expect from this year’s event.

“Hi, Valerie Milano here, the Senior Editor of The Hollywood Times and a co-producer of Desert Legends,” Milano said at the start of the interview. “I’m so happy to talk to these ladies today. Desert Legends also brings sports into the mix, and this year we have the golf tournament as part of the lineup.”

Barrett emphasized that the event is designed to be welcoming for players of all experience levels.

“It’s a mix of all skill levels,” Barrett explained. “It’s geared toward women who enjoy golf and enjoy the companionship of getting together with their friends and having fun.”

Rather than focusing solely on competitive play, the tournament encourages participation and camaraderie.

“Anybody who likes golf at all, this is a great event for that,” Barrett added. “We even have prizes for those with higher scores or who show the most improvement. It’s all about enjoying the day.”

The tournament will be played using a scramble shotgun format, where teams work together and use the best shot from their group. This format keeps the pace lively while allowing golfers with different strengths to contribute.

“You’re playing as a team,” Barrett said during the discussion. “You might have someone who hits the long drives and someone else who is very accurate. Everyone brings their strengths to the game.”

Bassi noted that beginners should not hesitate to participate.

“As Bev said, we welcome everybody,” Bassi said. “All skill levels. Beginners are welcome, just come out and have fun.”

Participants will arrive early for check-in and breakfast before heading onto the course.

“We’ll have some breakfast treats to get everyone energized,” Barrett explained. “And golfers will be able to purchase raffle tickets, mulligans, and enjoy the goodie bags we’ve prepared to show our appreciation.”

Throughout the course, golfers will encounter a variety of lighthearted challenges and competitions designed to add excitement to the day.

“We’ve got some special holes and competitions,” Bassi said. “There’s the longest drive, closest to the pin, a chipping challenge, a cornhole competition, and even a hole-in-one opportunity through GOLF Charity International.”

The setting itself is part of the experience. This year’s tournament will take place on the North Course at Indian Canyons Golf Resort, one of Palm Springs’ most scenic golf venues.

“This is really one of the spectacular courses in Palm Springs,” Barrett noted. “There’re mountain views, lakes, and a rich history. It’s just a beautiful course to play.”

Following the tournament, players will gather for a celebratory luncheon where awards, raffle prizes, and community connection continue the festivities.

“It’s not just the golf game,” Barrett said. “It’s everyone getting together afterward for lunch, prizes, and enjoying the day together.”

The tournament’s charitable beneficiary this year is the L-Fund, a respected lesbian philanthropy organization that supports underprivileged women and provides scholarships within the LGBTQ+ community.

“Women supporting women is what the L-Fund is all about,” Bassi said. “They’re doing really important work helping provide opportunities and scholarships, and we’re proud the tournament can support that.”

Sponsors including Olivia Travel, Tailwaggers, and Trusted Investigations are helping make the tournament possible, reinforcing Desert Legends’ mission of combining entertainment, athletics, and philanthropy during the multi-day Palm Springs celebration.

With Desert Legends Women’s Weekend returning April 2–5, the golf tournament serves as an energetic kickoff to a weekend filled with comedy, music, pool parties, sports events, and community connection.

“Golf is a great way to bring people together,” Bassi said. “It’s a chance to connect, support a meaningful cause, and enjoy one of the most beautiful courses in Palm Springs.”

A limited number of player spots are still available for the April 3 tournament at Indian Canyons Golf Resort.
