Los Angeles, CA (The Hollywood Times) 4/10/26 – On May 16, 2026, the National Center for LGBTQ Rights will host its highly anticipated Champions for Justice Gala at the stunning The Conservatory at One Sansome, bringing together advocates, leaders, and allies for an unforgettable evening dedicated to defending democracy and fighting for the future.
Running from 5:30 PM to 11:30 PM, the gala promises far more than a celebration, it is a call to action. Guests will gather in the heart of San Francisco for a night filled with inspiration, community, and a renewed commitment to protecting LGBTQ+ rights nationwide.
At the center of the evening are three extraordinary honorees whose work continues to shape the national conversation:

Paola Ramos
An Emmy Award–winning journalist and contributor to MSNBC and Telemundo, Ramos has built a career reporting from the frontlines—covering everything from the southern border to extremist movements. Her acclaimed books and fearless journalism spotlight evolving Latino identity and political shifts, making her one of today’s most compelling voices in media.
Jazz Jennings
One of the most recognized transgender activists of her generation, Jennings has been a trailblazer since childhood. Her advocacy helped lead to inclusive policy changes within U.S. soccer, and she continues to inspire millions as a speaker, author, and public figure.

Captain Gordon Herrero
A dedicated Army officer and educator at West Point, Herrero stands at the forefront of the fight for transgender military inclusion. As a named plaintiff in a landmark legal case challenging the ban on transgender service members, his courage represents the ongoing battle for equality within the armed forces.
Guiding the evening as host is rising comedy star Irene Tu, whose sharp wit and dynamic stage presence have made her one of the most exciting voices in stand-up today.
Setting the tone for the celebration, acclaimed DJ DJ LadyRyan will bring her signature blend of soulful, high-energy music to the dance floor, creating an atmosphere rooted in joy, connection, and community.
From powerful speeches to unforgettable performances, the evening is designed to uplift, energize, and unite attendees in a shared mission.
The Champions for Justice Gala is not simply an elegant night out; it is a vital fundraiser supporting NCLR’s ongoing legal advocacy and life-saving work. From defending LGBTQ+ families to advancing civil rights protections nationwide, the organization continues to play a critical role in shaping a more just and inclusive future.
With support from leading sponsors including the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and Pacific Gas & Electric, the evening reflects a broad coalition committed to equality and progress.
Guests can expect exceptional cuisine, meaningful connections, and a shared sense of purpose, celebrating not only how far the movement has come, but the work still ahead.
As Pride season approaches, Champions for Justice offers the perfect opportunity to come together, celebrate early, and make a meaningful impact.
