Los Angeles, CA (The Hollywood Times) 8/21/2026 – Usually when Tantra turns up in popular culture, it’s the butt of a joke, a sitcom punchline meant to make the vanilla crowd feel a little less vanilla. If you are wondering what “vanilla” means, there’s a decent chance we’re talking about you.
But behind the jokes and Western misconceptions is an ancient spiritual tradition, and Jenevieve Rasa Zaya wants people to understand the difference.
With her new podcast, Red Temple of Hexxx – Tantric Transmissions of Magik, Zaya is taking listeners beyond Tantra’s pop-culture reputation and into the teachings, spirituality, and mysticism at its roots.
Known professionally as Jenevieve Hexxx, Zaya says she has dedicated more than three decades to Tantric practice. She created the podcast as a space for conversations, rituals and teachings centered on Goddess Tantra, sacred sexuality, and mystical traditions.
The debut episode, “Jen Rasa Zaya & Guru Yogi Prakash on Tantra Kundalini,” brings Zaya together with Guru Yogi Prakash for a conversation about Tantra, Kundalini Yoga, spirituality, and the place these ancient practices can have in modern life.
At the heart of their discussion is a deceptively simple question: What is Tantra, and just as importantly, what isn’t it?
That distinction is central to what Zaya hopes to accomplish with the series. Rather than focusing on the western concept often labeled “Neo Tantra,” Zaya describes the podcast as an exploration of Eastern Tantra as a broader spiritual practice and what she calls a “living path to bliss.”
For Zaya, that path reaches far beyond sexuality. The podcast explores spiritual practice, ritual, and the mind, with Zaya presenting Tantra as something that can influence everyday life.
“We are sharing authentic Tantra with gurus and mystics who have lived these traditions and are living examples of the pure, radiant glow of a potent, vibrant, joyful life, devoid of the suffering caused by the fluctuations and afflictions of the mind,” Zaya said.
Three episodes are live so far, with future installments expected to bring spiritual teachers and practitioners into the conversation. Zaya also plans solo episodes exploring Tantric practices and insights she believes can be incorporated into everyday life.
Zaya says her own practice dates back to 1994 and draws from traditions including Kali Kula, Shakti Tantra, Hatha and Kriya Yoga, sacred ceremony, and mysticism. She is the founder of the Rasa Zaya Tantric Institute and Jen Zaya Tantric School and holds Yoga Alliance credentials as an E-RYT 200 and YACEP.
“Red Temple of Hexxx is a sacred sanctum for inspiring the Bliss of the Divine to rise in the spine,” Zaya said. It is a considerably different picture of Tantra than the one usually played for laughs on television.
