Palm Springs, CA (The Hollywood Times) 3/21/26 – During a recent conversation with philanthropist Arnie Kassoy, conducted off camera at his request, I had the opportunity to gain deeper insight into a transformative gift that will shape the future of The LGBTQ Community Center of the Desert.
The Center has announced the purchase of more than 33,000 square feet of land located across from its McDonald Wright Building, with prime frontage on both Palm Canyon and Indian Canyon Drives. This significant acquisition was made possible through Kassoy’s generous contribution. In recognition of his impact, the property will eventually become the Arnold Kassoy Campus of The LGBTQ Community Center of the Desert.
While Kassoy preferred to keep the spotlight off himself, his commitment to the community speaks volumes. His gift ensures that The Center can expand its reach, enhance vital programs, and continue serving the growing and evolving needs of the Coachella Valley’s LGBTQ+ population for generations to come.
This landmark investment not only secures physical space for future growth but also reflects a powerful vote of confidence in The Center’s mission, one that will undoubtedly inspire continued philanthropic support.
“The Center’s core purpose is making meaningful connections, and Arnie’s visionary gift guarantees our LGBTQ+ desert community will continue connecting to the people and resources needed to thrive for years to come,” said Mike Thompson, CEO of The Center.
